On March 15, 2025, Wings Hauser passed away at the age of 77. Although his son, actor Cole Hauser from Yellowstone, hasn’t yet spoken out, an emotional interview where he shared about his father has been rediscovered following this news.
Known as a “prominent actor who remained largely unknown,” Wings featured in over a hundred films and television productions throughout his career, with his standout roles appearing in Vice Squad, Tough Guys Don’t Dance, and The Young and the Restless.
Recently, it was revealed that he passed away peacefully at their residence in Santa Monica due to natural causes. His talent for acting, much like his father’s, found expression through his son, who is well-known for playing Rip Wheeler in the successful TV show created by Taylor Sheridan.
Although they both exhibited similar skills, it wasn’t until later in their lives that they formed a connection, as mentioned in a 2021 interview with Cowboys & Indians magazine.
Cole Hauser found out about his father Wings on TV

When Cole was merely two years old, his father, Cass Warner, flew away, leaving him without knowing his paternal identity. It wasn’t until he reached the age of nine or ten that he discovered who his father was.
When queried about the age at which he discovered his father’s profession, the Yellowstone actor responded, “That’s an intriguing query. I believe it was around my ninth or tenth birthday, roughly speaking.
Indeed, I spotted him on television, and it turned out he was my father – something I wasn’t previously aware of. After the movie ended, I noticed that Wings Hauser was among the cast in the credits.
I entered my mother’s room and remarked, “Mom, I just spotted a man on television named Wings Hauser.” She reacted with amazement, saying “Wow!” I confirmed my observation, and she responded, “Let’s discuss that.
“And so, she explained to me who he was. And that’s how I found out about my dad.”

In the course of their lives, Cole and Wings eventually built a connection, a fact confirmed by Cole, who shared that they often discussed Yellowstone together.
Indeed, he’s quite fond of the series, and his admiration for my performances within it is evident. Given that he’s a seasoned cowboy, that sentiment makes perfect sense,” he went on to say.
The Hauser family, originating from Montana, is deeply rooted there. He has ties with relatives residing in Helena, Livingstone, and various other locations across the state, making it a place that holds special significance for him.
