As a seasoned veteran of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 universe, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Citadelle des Morts Zombies map! With its magical focus and elemental swords as Wonder Weapons, this French castle setting promises to be an exhilarating adventure. The return of the Tesla Storm field upgrade and Vulture Aid perk is just the cherry on top.
The “Citadelle des Morts Zombies” map, part of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, will be available with the midseason update on December 5th. Recent episodes of Call of Duty’s official podcast have revealed details about the map’s special weapons and also announced significant enhancements to the Zombies gameplay experience.
Although there were initially two Zombies maps available at the game’s launch, Season 1 introduces a fresh, new map called Citadelle des Morts. This captivating setting is based in a French castle and carries on the narrative following the events depicted in the Terminus main Easter egg cutscene.

In their latest podcast episode, Call of Duty features an engaging conversation with Kevin Drew, Treyarch’s associate design director for Zombies. During the interview, he shares exciting insights about the upcoming midseason update for Zombies. The developer unveils that Citadelle des Morts emphasizes magic and introduces four elemental swords as unique Wonder Weapons. Drew also mentions that while the map is expansive, it incorporates numerous tight, confined areas within the castle structure.
Apart from Citadelle des Morts, some familiar features like the Tesla Storm field upgrade, Vulture Aid perk, and more are making a comeback from previous Zombies gameplay modes. Additionally, players can look forward to a brand-new ammo modification and an exciting 18 new augmentations to explore!
In his confirmation, Kevin Drew outlines several enhancements aimed at improving the player experience in the upcoming Zombies update. One of these improvements addresses the excessive Mangler spawns occurring past round 25, which can make higher-round gameplay quite challenging and frustrating for players. To mitigate this issue, Treyarch is implementing a limit on active Manglers up to round 100 in the revised version of the game.
At present, the Vermin and Parasite phases of Zombies are lengthy because of the gradually appearing enemies, however, Drew shared that following the update, these unique rounds will be shortened.
Treyarch promises to disclose additional information about Zombies with the Season 1 Reloaded update’s patch notes, expected around the time of the major release.
