Black Ops 6 Zombies launch maps

Treyarch announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode will debut with two fresh, interconnected storyline maps named Terminus and Liberty Falls upon release. These thrilling maps are designed for round-based gameplay.

“Terminus is a night-set prison island map, advancing the Dark Aether narrative from Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode. It reintroduces characters such as Weaver, Carver, Strauss, Dr. Elizabeth Grey, and Raptor One pilot. Explore further storyline details and watch the cinematic trailer for Terminus here.”

In a small West Virginian town, infested with zombies, you’ll find the map for Liberty Falls, which we’ll unveil in its entirety during the Call of Duty: Next event on August 28, offering further details as well.

New ways to play, save, and join mid-match

In Black Ops 6 Zombies, players can choose to play from either first-person or third-person viewpoints. There’s an in-game setting that allows you to switch between these views during the game itself. Treyarch mentions that playing in third-person offers a unique perspective to experience the game’s omni-movement.

Friends can now jump into each other’s ongoing Zombies games, provided there’s space in the team. Additionally, it’s possible to re-enter a game if connection problems arise.

Additionally, there are adjustable Head-Up Display (HUD) templates available for users, offering them extra choices. One such option is the “Legacy” setting which eliminates the mini-map and aligns the HUD elements to their positions in Black Ops 3.

In single-player mode, zombie games now offer a Save & Exit function. This allows players to save their progress in a game and come back to it later. Each player gets only one save spot using this feature.

New and returning features

Easter-egg quests

In Zombies mode, you’ll often find hidden gems like secrets and Easter eggs. It’s been confirmed that Terminus contains a classic Easter-egg challenge for players to crack. Additionally, there are many side quests waiting to be discovered. Be sure to delve into the island and uncover all its secret treasures!

Treyarch characterizes Terminus as one of the biggest zombie-themed maps in terms of rounds they’ve ever constructed. This expansive map also includes strategically placed rafts for players to navigate and thoroughly investigate not only the prison compound but also the surrounding ocean and smaller islands.

In Black Ops 6, you’ll find both conventional and assisted modes for the Easter egg hunt. At launch, the main story Easter egg won’t have a guided approach; instead, players will collaborate to crack the quest’s code.

Towards the end of the game’s run, players might find a choice to join an optional guided walkthrough for the primary storyline. This structured approach to the main story will limit the number of rounds based on their progress in the quest. Any extra side missions and hidden surprises will be temporarily deactivated to enhance the narrative flow.

In other words, we’ll kick things off with conventional quests initially, then transition to guided choices as we introduce the seasonally changing, round-based maps that are part of our post-release updates.

Classic Zombies features

In Black Ops 6 Zombies, players will encounter a host of familiar elements such as Pack-a-Punch, the enigmatic Mystery Box, powerful Wonder Weapons, Wall Buys, boosting Power-Ups, and perk dispensers.

In simpler terms, the most powerful tool for Terminus is known as the BeamSmasher. This device resembles a light machine gun in both size and shape. It boasts a single barrel that releases an intensely charged and destructive Aetheric beam. The BeamSmasher has two firing modes to adapt to various situations.

At launch, Terminus will include the following classic perks with base effects:

  • Jugger-Nog: Increase maximum health by 100
  • Quick Revive: Reduce the health regen delay time by 50%. Reduce the time it takes to revive an ally by 50%
  • Speed Cola: Increase reload and armor replating speed bonus by 30%
  • Stamin-Up: Increase movement speed
  • PhD Flopper: Immunity to all self-inflicted damage and status effects. Dive to prone triggers an explosion, which increases the higher you fall. Immunity from fall damage while diving to prone
  • Deadshot Daiquiri: Aiming down sight moves to enemy critical location. Increase enemy critical damage
  • Elemental Pop: Every bullet you fire has a small chance to apply a random Ammo Mod effect

In a fresh upgrade, Melee Macchiato offers a novel feature, swapping out your weapon’s butt for a powerful punch. This punch has the effect of hurling enemies away.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to see the return of Field upgrades and augments from Black Ops Cold War! These are the special abilities I can equip myself with, such as Aether Shroud for invisibility, Frenzied Guard for increased speed and damage resistance, Healing Aura for healing teammates, and Energy Mine for traps. There’s also a new one called Dark Flare – imagine wielding a massive energy beam that not only deals lethal shadow damage but also penetrates everything in its path! Exciting times ahead!

Enhancements represent levels that players can achieve to boost the potency of their abilities (perks), weapon modifications (ammo mods), and even the upgrades they can deploy on the battlefield.

Zombies currencies

In Black Ops Cold War Zombies, both Essence and Salvage Currencies make a comeback. Essence serves as the points that unlock doors, allow for the buying of items like perks, weapons, and Pack-a-Punch enhancements.

In Black Ops 6, the Salvage currency is derived from the scrap heaps gathered from defeated foes, unlike Black Ops Cold War where there are multiple rarities for Salvage. Unlike its predecessor, Black Ops 6 employs a single type of rarity. This Salvage will serve dual purposes: first, it will be utilized to elevate weapons to higher rarities; secondly, it will aid in the creation of lethal, tactical, and support gear.

Exfils and loadouts

Players will get an opportunity similar to Black Ops Cold War, allowing them to either escape the map securely (known as “exfil”) or decide to keep playing and risk being eliminated traditionally.

In this updated version, players can select personalized arsenals at the beginning of each game, thanks to the returning customized loadouts. Additionally, exclusive zombie missions and camouflage patterns are provided for an engaging experience.

New Mutant Injection turns players into Manglers

In this game, players are given the ability to create various support items inspired by Black Ops Cold War, such as the self-resurrecting tool, remote-controlled bombing vehicle killstreak, and sentry turret. Additionally, a brand-new support item called Mutant Injection is being introduced.

The process of Mutant Injection transforms players into a Mangler-like enemy, granting them specific characteristics. They gain an extra three feet in height, don armor plating, employ the Mangler’s powerful attacks, boost their sprint speed, and are endowed with an additional ability, which is currently classified as “confidential.”

GobbleGums return

In Black Ops 3, GobbleGums make their comeback! These one-time use items grant temporary special abilities. During gameplay, players can customize a loadout with up to three GobbleGums per match, and more can be acquired within the game itself.

GobbleGums are available in different levels of scarcity: Rare, Epic, Legendary, Ultra, and Whimsical. Generally speaking, the rarer a GobbleGum, the stronger its impact; however, the Whimsical gums deviate from this rule by providing only a unique visual alteration.

During a game, GobbleGums cannot be discarded or passed on to others. However, you can switch to a different pack of GobbleGums anytime during the game by accessing the in-game menu. Any unused GobbleGums are saved for future matches, ensuring they won’t be lost even if you momentarily leave the game.

Notable returning gums include:

  • Perkaholic – Gives the player all Perk-a-Colas in the map
  • Wall-to-Wall Clearance – Wall Buys cost only 10 Essence
  • Free Fire – Firing weapons consumes no ammo for the next 60 seconds
  • Soda Fountain – The next perk purchased gives an additional random perk

In the Call of Duty: Next showcase, you can expect live demonstrations and updates on multiplayer modes. Before the grand event, whispers about Black Ops 6 have been circulating, hinting at possible changes such as a new Warzone map submerged in water, and an intriguing gameplay mechanic that allows players to utilize enemies as makeshift body shields.

On October 25th, the newest installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops, titled ‘Black Ops 6’, will be available for play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, the newly released PlayStation 5, as well as personal computers.
