CoD: Black Ops 6 Omnidirectional Movement Can't Be Turned Off

As a long-time fan of the Call of Duty series, I’m absolutely thrilled about the release of Black Ops 6 and its new omnidirectional movement mechanics. Having played previous games in the franchise, I can’t help but feel that this update breathes fresh life into the gameplay experience. The opportunity to live out an action hero fantasy by diving, sliding, and spinning around in a full 360 degrees is truly exhilarating!

In the first episode of Call of Duty’s official podcast, Treyarch’s new omnidirectional movement feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is highlighted. Releasing on October 25, this updated movement system is a significant focus and has sparked conversations about the skill gap and customizable settings for Black Ops 6 players.

Previously stated, Treyarch has made significant changes to player mobility in Black Ops 6. Now, players can sprint, dive, and slide in all directions. Moreover, they can perform a full 360-degree spin while diving. This updated movement system is applicable throughout the game, encompassing the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes.

In an engaging interview on Call of Duty’s podcast, Treyarch’s associate design director, Matt Scronce, shares insights about Black Ops 6’s innovative movement system. He emphasizes that this feature allows players to experience the thrill of being an action hero. However, Scronce reassures those who prefer traditional Call of Duty gameplay that they can still compete effectively against opponents by sticking to standard movement.

Scronce acknowledges the importance of not excessively increasing the difference in skills between individuals: “We’ve been careful not to leave too many people behind,” he explains. “It’s okay if you choose to move slower, you can still achieve success, even though it might not appear as stylish.”

Players don’t have the option to turn off the new movement system, which includes dynamic dives and slides. According to Scronce, this integral part of the game, named Omnimovement, is non-disabling for players.

Black Ops 6 by Treyarch introduces an innovative new “smart movement” system, allowing for more fluid and streamlined player actions without requiring as many button inputs for directional movement.

According to Scrone, the intelligent movement option is not mandatory. Players have the freedom to turn this feature on or off at their convenience. By default, this feature will be deactivated, but players can activate it to gain access to three adjustable settings. The main objective is to minimize the number of keys required for actions such as sprinting and taking cover.

Activision announced the beta dates for Black Oops 6 during this podcast, making it an ideal time for gamers to try out the game’s significant movement overhaul before its release. Here’s how to participate in the beta test.

Further information about Black Ops 6 will be shared during Activision’s Call of Duty: Next event, taking place on August 28.
