CM Punk’s WWE 2K26 match vs. Steve Carell turned violent at Netflix event

Most people recognize Steve Carell as the star of The Office, but he recently stepped into the virtual wrestling ring! He faced off against CM Punk in the video game WWE 2K26 at a Netflix event.

At the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Festival, Punk briefly appeared during the Night of Too Many Stars show. He faced off with Steve Carell, jokingly threatening to make him pay back the money he famously promised to the students in ‘Scott’s Tots,’ a memorable scene from The Office.

Carell refused to back down from the confrontation. He warned his opponent, saying he would relentlessly attack and continue even if asked to stop.

The WWE 2K26 match between them began. Carell, playing a custom-made character, mostly dodged Punk throughout the match instead of actually fighting.

Carell playfully ran offstage after Punk brought out a lifelike dummy resembling him. Carell jokingly protested with repeated “no”s, acting as if the dummy was receiving the impact instead of him.

Once he felt better, Carell asked Punk to call it even. They shook hands, ending the show on a positive note.

This was a significant public appearance for Punk, as it was one of the first since WrestleMania 42. At WrestleMania 42, he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns in the main event.

Roman Reigns will defend his championship for the first time against Jacob Fatu at Backlash. As for CM Punk, his next move isn’t clear – it’s uncertain whether he’ll try to regain the title or start a new rivalry.

Leading up to WrestleMania 42, CM Punk was finishing up a 169-day run as World Heavyweight Champion – his second time holding the title. He’d won it by defeating Jey Uso in a match at November 2025’s Saturday Night’s Main Event after the championship had been left vacant.
