‘Clown in a Cornfield’ Trailer: Frendo the Clown Murders Victims in Gory Slasher From ‘Smile’ Producers

Friends everywhere adore Frendo. RLJE Films and Shudder have debuted the initial, adult-oriented teaser trailer for “Clown in a Cornfield,” the upcoming horror film by Eli Craig, which is set to premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival. The movie is an onscreen adaptation of Adam Cesare’s novel with the same title.

In the movie “Clown in a Cornfield,” the characters Katie Douglas and Carson MacCormac play father-daughter duo Quinn and Glenn, who move to the peaceful town of Kettle Springs seeking a new beginning. Unfortunately, they find a troubled community that has been struggling since the devastating fire at the cherished Baypen Corn Syrup Factory. As per an official summary, Quinn stumbles upon this fractured society.

In the small town of Kettle Springs, residents argue and emotions run high. Suddenly, an eerie, grinning figure appears from the fields of corn, seemingly intent on ridding the town of its problems by claiming lives, one by one in a brutal fashion. This is when the true entertainment begins – when Frendo the clown decides to make his appearance.

Producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, along with John Fischer, will team up for Temple Hill Entertainment to produce a new slasher film. Running for approximately 96 minutes, this R-rated movie contains intense horror violence, frequent strong language, and teen drinking scenes. The premiere is scheduled for March 10 at SXSW, followed by a nationwide theater release on May 9. It will later be distributed by RLJE Films and Shudder.

In addition to Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand, the cast includes stars. The movie “Clown in a Cornfield” is jointly written by Craig and Carter Blanchard, who based the screenplay on Cesare’s novel. The “Clown in a Cornfield” book has produced two follow-ups: “Clown in a Cornfield II: Frendo Lives” and “Clown in a Cornfield III: The Church of Frendo.
