Cladun X3 will have a more robust Magic Circle system with tons of crossover content

Cladun X3 is all set to hit consoles in Japan next week, and Nippon Ichi Software has been sharing more details about the game. Their latest blog post dives into the series’ signature feature, the Magic Circle, outlining the fresh elements incorporated in this new release.

In the Cladun series, the Magic Circle is a consistent element where players can bolster their characters by positioning earned Artifacts. These Artifacts can also be used to summon other characters you’ve created as auxiliary allies to aid the primary character. In the upcoming installment of the game, new artifacts will be introduced, such as ‘Wide’, which amplifies any effect it follows by twofold, ‘Twin’, which duplicates the power of the following artifact while reducing its Mana cost by half, and ‘Zero’, which allows you to use the next artifact without spending any Mana at all.

In the game, each job allows the character to learn more than twenty distinct Magic Circle types. The recently unveiled ones by Nippon Ichi include the Mermaid for Ranger, which boosts resistance to all attacks when submerged underwater, Swordmage with an automatic activation of Technique #4 immediately following the use of Technique/Magic #3, and Saint’s Honor, enabling flight on every third floor and allowing them to bypass any landmines.

In the realm of employment, Nippon Ichi Software has now disclosed all ten positions available in Cladun X3. Remarkably, these roles are quite similar to those found in Cladun X2. They include: Warrior, Wizard, Ranger, Merchant, Saint, Guardian, Swordmage, Ninja, Dragoon, and Shaman.

Nippon Ichi Software has been gradually unveiling additional crossover content for Cladun X3, sharing details in separate posts. Some of these bonus features were accessible via the demo version that came out on Japanese consoles since December last year, including content from Nippon Ichi’s internal series like Disgaea and partnerships with retail chains such as AmiAmi. Moreover, Nippon Ichi is planning to include even more crossovers in the full game launch, with one of the exciting collaborations being with Nihon Falcom, featuring Estelle and Joshua Bright from Trails in the Sky, along with Adol and Feena from Ys I.

The game titled Cladun X3 (originally known as Classic Dungeon X3) is set to launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 in Japan on February 27th. At this point, neither Nippon Ichi nor NIS America have announced plans for an English version or a PC release of the game.
