Civilization 7 release date may have leaked ahead of Gamescom

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of leaks and rumors, but this one about Civilization 7 piqued my interest. If these reports are indeed accurate, it seems like Firaxis Games has taken the “wait for it” approach to a whole new level – a full ten years between releases!

Although much excitement surrounds the initial gameplay unveiling of Civilization 7, there are rumors that certain aspects of the game might have been prematurely disclosed before the Gamescom presentation. A recent report suggests possible insights into the release date of Civ 7, as well as pricing and edition information. However, these details remain unconfirmed until the official Civilization 7 showcase verifies them. This could happen in just a matter of hours.

Civ 7 release date potentially leaked before Gamescom

Civilization 7 release date may have leaked ahead of Gamescom

Everyone’s anticipating Gamescom, and one of the major highlights is the Civilization 7 gameplay reveal scheduled for 1:30pm PT / 4:30pm ET / 10:30pm CEST on August 20. The team at Firaxis has promised a comprehensive 20-minute exploration of Civilization 7’s features, with additional discussions planned for those physically present.

According to a frequent tipster and investigator from Dealabs Magazine, there’s a suggestion that Civilization 7 will debut on February 11, 2025. This timing fits with the previously mentioned 2025 release window, implying that the launch may not be too distant given the extensive details planned for today’s unveiling.

The same report indicates that Civilization 7 will be available in both a Standard and Deluxe version. The Deluxe Edition may offer additional content, such as downloadable expansions, given that this was a significant element of Civilization 6’s post-release plan. According to the reports, the game will cost $69.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, while it will retail for $59.99 on Nintendo Switch. The Deluxe Edition is expected to sell for $99.99 on PS5 and Xbox, but only $89.99 on the Switch.

Although the recent leak doesn’t explicitly mention a PC version, it might be because the leaker’s information comes from non-human sources. The leaker stated they don’t have any human contacts, and often, such listings appear just before they become live, which can lead to leaks. If editions are being announced today, it’s possible that pre-orders for Civilization 7 will also become available at the same time.

If the leak turns out to be inaccurate, there’s still a possibility that things could change. However, fans won’t have to wait much longer for verification as the Civilization VII gameplay reveal is just around the corner, happening in about five hours. You can catch it live at this given link.
