In the latest edition of Cities: Skylines 2, there have been some issues resurfacing related to mortality and job opportunities within the simulated urban environments.
In this update, Version 1.2.3f1 on Steam, although the list of changes may be short due to it being a hotfix, Colossal Order studio has implemented substantial enhancements. One such improvement pertains to the probability of death, now calibrated so that virtual city residents will age and eventually pass away at an “appropriate age” within the game (up to 120 days in-game time).
Absolutely, similar to many contemporary games, particularly those incorporating simulation aspects, a seemingly minor adjustment like the 1.2.3f1 update can bring about substantial impacts. The developers cautioned that joblessness might rise post this update.
As a gamer, I can tell you that in the world of Cities: Skylines 2, developers have chosen to breathe new life into our senior citizens. This move aims to flatten out the “death rate” curve, preventing another wave of characters passing away. Consequently, these seniors are stepping back into the workforce, thereby reducing the number of job openings available. Temporarily, this will also decrease the overall population of seniors until the simulation settles down and stabilizes again.
Furthermore, the developers ensured that any deceased individuals who had not previously been served were removed from the system. This was done to avoid overloading the funeral service system with an unexpected increase in deaths.
Furthermore, this update incorporates some performance enhancements and adjustments to the balance (like an upgraded job search mechanism for residents), along with squashing bugs (eliminating the issue where hydroelectric power plants operated according to the simulation pace) and addressing crashes.
While this adjustment may seem minor compared to the surprise December update, it’s still brought a sense of relief to the players. In the grand scheme of things, any indication that the game is still active is significant, according to internet users. However, the fans are making it clear that they anticipate a lot more innovative features and enhancements in the near future.
So far, the update hasn’t significantly affected the game’s ratings on Steam or player activity.
