Al Fine, the indie game studio behind Chrono Ark, recently showed off a trailer for their upcoming game, Deception Engine. Unlike their previous title, Deception Engine will be a ‘roguelite’ – meaning players will have more lasting character improvements between runs, rather than starting completely fresh each time.
The studio also revealed that Gustavo Coutinho will be composing the music for their new game. He’s well-known for his work on the soundtracks for Payday 2 and Payday 3.
Check out the new trailer and details for Deception Engine below. Al Fine’s game, Chrono Ark, is now available on PC through Steam in Korean, English, Japanese, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. It’s also coming to Nintendo Switch on January 29, 2026.
Deck-Building Roguelite Heist RPG
We are excited to reveal a first look at the combat gameplay of Deception Engine.
Deception Engine refines the combat from Chrono Ark and introduces a roguelite RPG system where your character permanently improves with each playthrough. This means dying doesn’t force you to start completely over, unlike in Chrono Ark.
We’re excited to share that Gustavo Coutinho, the composer for both PAYDAY 2 and PAYDAY 3, will be creating the official soundtrack for our project.
We hope you look forward to it!
