In the upcoming release of the new “Superman” film this weekend, did you know that Will Reeve, son of the legendary Christopher Reeve, is set to make a special appearance? At the request of the producers during the filming of the James Gunn movie, the 33-year-old ABC News correspondent graciously accepted the opportunity to pay tribute to his late father. It seems he was delighted to be part of the project.
This past week, during the debut of Superman at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, Will Reeve shared his thoughts with Good Morning America on the red carpet regarding his role in the upcoming movies set for release in 2025. Here’s what he said:

Last Tuesday, at the premiere of Superman held at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, Will Reeve granted an interview to Good Morning America on the red carpet about his participation in the 2025 film releases. Let me share with you what he expressed:
When asked to participate in this film, I instantly agreed. It seemed like a fantastic opportunity! Although I don’t consider myself an actor, I’m quite content with my role at GMA. I was delighted to spend a day, record a few lines, interact with the cast and crew, and then return to my job – one I feel more suited for, allowing the professionals to handle acting matters.
Isn’t it quite fitting that the real-life son of the first “Superman” movie star, Christopher Reeve, is a journalist? Will Reeve, who was three years old when his father became paralyzed from the neck down due to an unfortunate accident during an equestrian tournament, had the opportunity to witness his father transform into a true-life Superman. Despite his own tragic circumstances, Christopher Reeve dedicated the remainder of his life to advocacy for the disabled before passing away at 52, when Will was only twelve. Two years later, Dana Reeve, his mother, lost her battle with lung cancer.
Following the loss of his parents, he shifted residence to stay with a trusted acquaintance. Over time, he chose a profession in broadcast journalism and additionally serves on the board for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Despite having a minor role in Superman, he was content to contribute modestly to the film and, in essence, pay tribute to his iconic father – a sentiment he himself expressed.
In essence, it’s a heartfelt honor to stand in for my family, considering the deep affection people have for my father’s portrayal of Superman. I hope this movie will resonate with his fans as much as the original did. The role I play isn’t crucial, but there’s a delightful moment in the film that I believe many will appreciate, if they catch it.

Superman Review: How To Launch A Superhero Franchise In 2025
David Corenswet, the latest actor to play Superman, once shared an emotional story about meeting Christopher Reeve’s son during filming. He described that particular day as incredibly touching, particularly since his own daughter was present too. For Corenswet, it was a poignant coincidence (or “little parallel”) that held special significance for him. Additionally, he appreciated having the younger Reeve on set in numerous ways.
Christopher Reeve was the pioneer who initially portrayed Superman on the big screen in 1978, through Richard Donner’s “Superman: The Movie”. Before superhero films became one of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters hits, he played the DC Comics character in four movies. Reeve’s brief appearance in “Superman” seems like a modest yet heartwarming gesture by him and writer/director James Gunn to honor the original Superman, and we’re eagerly anticipating spotting it.
