As a long-time fan of Chris Rock‘s work, I am absolutely thrilled about his upcoming project, “Misty Green.” With a career spanning over three decades, Rock has proven himself to be an incredibly versatile artist – from stand-up comedy to acting and now directing. His past projects like “Top Five” and “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” demonstrate his unique ability to tackle complex themes with humor and depth.
Chris Rock will take on both directorial duties and the lead role in “Misty Green,” a modern story that explores the extravagance and imbalance within the film industry.
In “Misty Green,” originally penned by Rock, we follow Misty, a gifted actress whose self-destructive habits have thwarted every effort to rejuvenate her career. A promising opportunity that’s been a long time coming comes from an unexpected source – Jordan (Rock), a movie director who has a part tailored just for her, if only they could overcome their tumultuous history. The casting process is ongoing.
Peter Rice, a seasoned executive who has previously led Fox and is known for productions like “Saturday Night” and “28 Years Later,” will collaborate with James Lopez for MACRO Film Studios and Tommy Oliver for Confluential Films on an upcoming project. Charles D. King of MACRO Film Studios and Codie Elaine Oliver of Confluential Films will serve as executive producers. Neon International will handle foreign distribution rights, showcasing it at AFM next week, while CAA Media Finance will oversee domestic rights.
Most recently, Rock appeared on the big screen in the movie “Rustin” from last year. Prior to that, his directorial role was for the 2014 critically acclaimed comedy ensemble film “Top Five,” where he also acted. He has now been chosen to direct the American adaptation of the Danish drama “Another Round,” which won an Oscar, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way. Additionally, Rock is serving as executive producer and narrator for a revamped animated version of his popular autobiographical family comedy series “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” originally titled “Everybody Hates Chris.
The rock is associated with CAA, Untitled Entertainment, Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman (collectively).
As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that my radar is buzzing with an array of intriguing films from Neon International. Among them is “Splitsville,” directed by Michael Covino and featuring the captivating performances of Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona.
