10 years have passed since I first watched the groundbreaking Avengers movie with actors such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Evans. It’s mind-blowing to realize that they were part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s inaugural ensemble film. In the near future, some of the original cast members will reunite for Avengers: Doomsday. Interestingly enough, Hemsworth reflects on his role as an “elder” millennial on set, highlighting how much things have evolved over time.
Those who were like me were probably delighted upon learning that Hemsworth was one of the many MCU actors joining Doomsday. What’s known about the upcoming Marvel movie so far is that veterans of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the New Avengers will be going up against Doctor Doom. While speaking with Deadline, Hemsworth — who’s reprising his role as Thor — was asked about working on the film, and I love how candid he was about embracing his age amongst the ensemble:
It’s great to be reunited with many familiar and new faces, making me feel like a seasoned veteran. Ten years ago, I found myself questioning my role here, but now, unexpectedly, I find myself in a position where I am certainly older than before! Whether I’m a teacher or simply more experienced, age has definitely caught up with me.
Marvel at Chris Hemsworth’s timeless youthfulness, as if a single day has passed since he graced our screens in “The Avengers” back in 2012. Time flies, and it’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a decade since the original Avengers team assembled!
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), actors like Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and others joined when they were in their 40s. Contrastingly, Chris Evans was only 30 years old when “Captain America: The First Avenger” premiered. Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth, on the other hand, made their debut as Black Widow and Thor while still in their twenties, which makes me feel a bit older!

It’s fascinating to reflect on the fact that in 2009, during Chris Hemsworth’s negotiations to portray Thor, he nearly declined the Marvel role due to it being a six-film commitment. Fortunately, he reconsidered, and it’s a relief he did, as Thor has developed one of the most captivating character journeys within the MCU. He transformed from a pompous warrior into a multidimensional hero, which leaves me eagerly anticipating his comeback in Avengers: Doomsday.
Details about the latest movie featuring Earth’s strongest heroes are scarce. However, it has been revealed that Chris Hemsworth was determined not to miss out on the opportunity to portray Thor again in “Love and Thunder.” His trainer has disclosed that this time, Hemsworth is consuming four to five meals daily, as opposed to ten, which he used to eat while preparing for the fourth Thor film. Despite the alteration in his diet, it’s clear that he is working hard to build up his muscles to appear superhero-ready when facing off against Doctor Doom.

Disney+ offers the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor series, among other films, for an affordable price. Although Chris Hemsworth isn’t as youthful as he once was, that doesn’t diminish his ability to excel in his Marvel roles. In fact, he could impart valuable lessons about what it takes to lead a successful franchise – one filled with heart, humor, and exhilarating action. Despite the passage of more than ten years since the Avengers first assembled, their core values remain as relevant as ever.
Keep yourself updated about the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to release in theaters on December 18, 2026. Until then, catch up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe films by subscribing to Disney+ and streaming them online.
