As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours binge-watching late-night television shows, I can confidently say that this week’s lineup has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride of entertainment. From Lacey Chabert’s eidetic memory to Chris Fleming’s quirky performances on After Midnight, it seems like the hosts are pulling out all the stops to keep us entertained during these trying times.
As Thanksgiving break approaches, everyone seems to be getting a bit lively. Meanwhile, Brian Stack is donning an unconventional outfit for his appearance on The Late Show; Andy Cohen is revealing secrets about Wicked; and Seth Meyers is indulging in day drinking, not just in the sketch but outside of it. However, it appears that Ronan Farrow is the only one who’s fully focused, informing The Daily Show audience that a simple daily hard restart of your phone can help fend off most spyware. That’s what I call dedicated reporting.
This month has felt particularly lengthy, and it seems that next year might follow suit. So, please understand if late-night TV shows appear a bit more whimsical than usual this week. Here’s who took the whimsy to another level.
5. Lacey Chabert Remembers Everything

Actors often don’t remember much about the roles they played due to their busy schedules. For instance, Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t recall how many Marvel films she starred in or their stories. It makes sense that Lacey Chabert, who is always occupied with holiday movies, might forget details like last month’s “I’m starting a cupcake shop in a quaint town while struggling to find love and it’s Christmas!” plot when she’s learning lines for her next project. So who is Lacey Chabert? She’s an actress who excels at her job, but we’re unsure if she has a photographic memory like Marilu Henner or she just does her work well – the answer remains a mystery, unless a charming snowman manages to extract it from her.
4. Jon Stewart Pushes Back

Jon Stewart’s Monday episode of The Daily Show served as an excellent example of scrutinizing unproven assumptions. One popular narrative among pundits is that the Democrats lost the presidential election because they became too focused on social issues (i.e., “went woke”). However, considering the involvement of various Cheneys in the Harris campaign, this claim seems questionable at best. Despite Ruy Teixeira, Stewart’s guest, appearing to concur with this notion, Stewart challenged it during his “Headlines” segment and continued to do so during their interview. Kudos to Stewart for not giving in to the typical late-night softball approach!
3. Stephen Colbert and Josh Brolin Have a Read-Off

As a film aficionado, let me tell you, Josh Brolin brought an electrifying vibe to The Late Show – and Stephen Colbert was right there with him! They had a lively discussion about the contrast between the charisma of a TV star at night versus a movie star. (I always enjoy these discussions when they come up.) Then, in a playful twist, Brolin showcased Colbert’s book instead of his own, creating a mock battle between our books, trading quotes back and forth to see who was more intriguing. Colbert took it all in stride, proving to be a nimble scene partner. It’s moments like these that truly highlight Colbert’s talent. I wouldn’t suggest other stars bring the same level of eccentricity to The Late Show, but I also wouldn’t discourage it!
2. The Tonight Show’s Army of Quick-Change Artists

In a fascinating revelation, we recently got a glimpse into the backstage magic of the swift costume changes during The Tonight Show sketches, usually involving Jimmy Fallon and occasionally his guests. This is the first time I can recall witnessing such a process. It’s mind-boggling to realize how many wardrobe assistants it takes to get any 30 Rock performer into an outfit in mere seconds! The article focused on the surge of look-alike contests lately, with Fallon being the one imitated. His impersonations were spot-on, but the real stars of the show were the four to seven wardrobe assistants for each costume. I couldn’t tell you exactly how many there were – they moved so quickly that it was hard to keep count! I could watch this process all day!
1. Chris Fleming, Auteur
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=nDxmWLrQ4mM
Each instance when Chris Flemming appears on “After Midnight,” he delivers a short act. This is an effective utilization of the program’s time, the audience’s time, and Chris Flemming’s time. In this particular episode, the concept revolved around Fleming presenting a performance similar to Stomp, with Taylor Tomlinson’s jokes serving as the rhythmic foundation. Lisa Gilroy donned a mustache, and everything fell neatly into place, I assure you.
The aim of a program like “After Midnight” is to present an array of unique, charming individuals (regardless of gender) to the American audience, with the ultimate goal of boosting their appearance fees significantly. It’s essentially a platform, and we appreciate CBS for providing Fleming with the opportunity to shine on your popular TV show with its polished floor.
