As a seasoned movie critic with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent revelations about Elon Musk’s behavior during his stint as a host on “Saturday Night Live” are nothing short of alarming. The fact that a high-profile guest can make multiple cast members cry during a table read is not only unprofessional but also deeply disheartening for those who pour their heart and soul into their work.
Chloe Fineman asserted in a since-removed TikTok posting, that Elon Musk left her in tears during his hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live.
In August, Bowen Yang, Fineman’s fellow cast member, disclosed on “Watch What Happens Live” that a male host had caused several cast members to cry during a reading session for the sketch comedy series, by making repeated instances of emotional distress.
Yang recounted that during a rehearsal prior to a table-read, this specific SNL host made several cast members cry because of his dislike for their ideas on a Wednesday. When asked about the poorest behavior he’s seen as host, he described it as ‘awful’.
On a TikTok video shared on Monday, Fineman publicly criticized Musk, who had hosted SNL in May 2021, following his comments about Dana Carvey’s portrayal of him over the weekend. He claimed that the show has been struggling and losing touch with reality for quite some time now.
“OK, I just saw some news article about Elon Musk being like butt-hurt about ‘SNL’ and his impression, but I’m, like, you’re clearly watching the show. Like, what are you talking about?” Fineman said at the beginning of the video. “And I’m like, you know what? I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member that he made cry. And he’s the host that made someone cry. Maybe there’s others.”
It appears that Fineman may have been discussing the media coverage surrounding Yang’s appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” during the summer. She mentioned reading some articles about it and stated, “I decided to keep quiet initially, but then I thought, if you’re going to behave disrespectfully on your show, know this: Your actions made me, Chloe Fineman, tear up because I had worked all night writing the sketch.” She went on to say, “I was so thrilled, I came in and asked if there were any questions for me, and you looked at me as if you were letting me go from Tesla and said, ‘It’s not funny.’
Fineman went on to say: “I expected you to chuckle and say ‘just kidding’. Instead, you began scrutinizing my script, turning each page with intensity, stating that you didn’t even crack a smile once.” The sketch was eventually included in the show, as per Fineman, who found it “satisfactory” and admitted she “enjoyed herself quite a bit during the performance.
Fineman remarked, “You were truly amusing in that performance! However, could you please show a bit more courtesy, good sir.
