Chinese man goes viral saving driver from burning car before it explodes

In China, a man has been gaining widespread attention after a video emerged showing him rescuing a driver from a car that was about to be fully consumed by fire.

Occasionally, ordinary individuals perform remarkable deeds, as demonstrated by a man residing in China’s Guangdong Province back in May. He did just that when, using only his bare hands, he forcefully opened a car door and rescued the driver trapped within.

Based on the South China Morning Post report, on May 1st, a car and a three-wheeled vehicle powered by gas collided. The car stopped at the roadside, but the gas-fueled tricycle caught fire and emitted harmful gases.

35-year-old Zhong Wei, observing the accident occur close to his residence, immediately attempted to summon help by dialing for an ambulance. However, as he noticed the flames were quickly approaching the passenger side of the vehicle, he felt compelled to intervene.

In the video recording of the event, it’s clear that Wei is attempting to open the door using only his hands, yet fails due to the fire erupting from the car. Despite this, he shows resilience and tries once more.

Following a bit of effort, he successfully opened the door, an accomplishment he attributed later to the muscular power he gained from transporting heavy bags of fertilizer at his workplace. Upon reaching the driver, he was able to extract him to safety from the shattered windscreen caused by the accident.

In due course, emergency medical technicians showed up and tended to the driver, who later regained health in the hospital.

Video of the encounter has gone viral in China, receiving millions of views, as per SCMP.

During an interview with Guangdong TV, Wei shared that in a critical situation, he realized it wasn’t feasible to wait for experts to arrive. In this crucial moment, his smartwatch displayed that his heart rate peaked at an astonishing 151 beats per minute.

It’s not unusual for a kind stranger to gain popularity by assisting another person in need. For instance, in the year 2024, an Amazon delivery driver became a hero when he stepped up to aid a mother who had fallen unconscious about twenty minutes prior, after being asked for help by a courageous 6-year-old.
