Warning: The next paragraph contains spoilers for the ninth episode of Chicago Med’s tenth season, titled “Baby Mine…”. This episode can be streamed with a Peacock subscription.
Is it surprising that the tension heightened in the penultimate episode of Chicago Med’s season? Absolutely! The latest episode of its 2025 TV schedule delivered quite a punch, with various incidents unfolding. Dr. Charles reconnected with his long-lost daughters, while Frost and Maggie found themselves parting with a crucial pair of lungs for a young boy in dire need. However, the rich man’s daughter, who received those lungs, may not recover. A significant turn of events occurred for Hannah when she was relieved of the difficult decision regarding being a surrogate for Lizzy – but for a good reason!
Indeed, Chicago Med deserves recognition for its intricate storyline development. I had assumed that with Hannah losing a patient during pregnancy last fall, grappling with Lizzy’s hysterectomy, and receiving an apology from Archer over the surrogacy issue, NBC’s long-running medical drama was hinting at her carrying her sister’s child in Season 11. However, it turns out that Gaffney ED’s OB-GYN is pregnant herself, suggesting that her relationship with Mitch might not be as history as we thought.
A significant amount hinges on the decisions she’ll make during the Season 10 finale, as suggested by the promotional materials, the episode appears to be brimming with unexpected turns for various characters. As a result, it remains uncertain how much focus will be given to Hannah’s pregnancy storyline, considering her subdued reaction at the end of “Baby Mine” and her avoidance of a call from Lizzy in the same room where the surrogacy offer was made. Additionally, her apparent satisfaction with ending things with Mitch adds another layer of complexity to the situation.
As a film enthusiast, I must admit that the adorable scene where he successfully soothed the fussy infant was quite endearing, but I couldn’t help feeling a lack of palpable longing or remorse from her character. Instead, it seemed more reminiscent of the Hannah and Archer dynamic, which left me somewhat torn during the spring season. Will she reveal in the finale that she is pregnant? Is she contemplating whether to share this news with Mitch before Season 10 concludes? Could there be complexities arising or crucial decisions about whether to carry the baby without disclosing it to anyone? These are the intriguing questions that the show has left me pondering.
At the conclusion of “Baby Mine…”, it appeared she was in a state of shock rather than anything else. It seemed she hadn’t fully trusted the surrogacy clinic’s claim that she was pregnant and instead had conducted multiple home pregnancy tests to confirm. It leaves me wondering if the surrogacy clinic would have informed her if she hadn’t started questioning why she was rejected as a candidate, but I don’t expect that question will be answered anytime soon. In the meantime, take a look at the promo for the upcoming finale!
The final episode of Season 10 for “Chicago Med,” titled “…Don’t You Cry,” will air on Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC. This is followed by “Chicago Fire” at 9 p.m. ET and “Chicago P.D.” at 10 p.m. ET. You can also stream all three shows on Peacock currently. With the recent announcement that the One Chicago trio has been renewed for the 2025-2026 TV season, viewers can relax knowing that any cliffhangers left unresolved in these finales will be addressed!
