What I found in Conchagua

Ah, the quaint village of Conchagua, where time seems to have stood still. 🕰️ The streets bustled with schoolchildren in their pristine uniforms, scurrying home for their midday meal, as if caught in a timeless dance. 💃 The central square, adorned with the town’s name in bold letters, stood as a testament to the simple joys of small-town life. 🏪

And there, in the heart of it all, a magnificent colonial church, its patron saint watching over the villagers with a benevolent gaze. 🕌 Alas, my presence as a foreigner drew curious stares, for Conchagua is a place where outsiders are a rarity, and the locals prefer to keep their tranquil existence undisturbed. 🤫

But what of this elusive Bitcoin City, the modern-day El Dorado, you ask? 🤔 Ah, dear reader, the mayor’s words echoed with a touch of sarcasm, “These are only words.” 😏 No signs of construction, no government officials in sight – it seems Bukele’s grand vision has yet to materialize, much to the amusement of the locals. 🤷‍♂️

Yet, the Pacific Airport, a mere 30 minutes away, holds the promise of a future that may or may not come to pass. 🛫 Will it be the first step towards the realization of Bitcoin City, or merely a mirage in the sultry heat of El Salvador? 🌴 Only time will tell, my friends, as we watch this tale unfold with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. 🤔

And as for my own journey, I ventured up the volcano, only to be turned back by the villagers’ warnings. 🚗 Alas, the view of the Gulf of Fonseca and its neighboring islands will have to wait for another day, when the roads are kinder and the dreams of Bitcoin City are no longer mere whispers in the wind. 🌊
