Check Out An Exclusive Look Of Disco Elysium Running On Mobile

For the first time this year, Disco Elysium will make its debut on mobile devices, and we were fortunate enough to have an early play with the mobile adaptation of this RPG. This isn’t just a straightforward port; in fact, Lucy James from TopMob expresses that “it is quite distinct from what I had anticipated.

On Instagram, James demonstrates Disco Elysium running on an Android device, revealing the role-playing game’s shift towards smartphones. First introduced on PC in 2019, the game subsequently appeared on other platforms like the Nintendo Switch in 2021. However, this mobile version offers a distinct gaming experience. As James explains, “It’s designed for shorter play sessions, rather than immersing yourself deeply in a lengthy RPG.

In terms of control mechanism, Disco Elysium follows a style that mimics how people typically use their smartphones. As James explained, interactions within the game are similar to those on a phone, involving thumb swipes and taps while holding your device in portrait orientation. This setup suggests that the game can be played comfortably using just one hand.

In early May, ZA/UM Studio unveiled plans to release Disco Elysium on mobile devices this coming summer. The studio has recently experienced a high-profile separation with the game’s director and art director, who allege they were pushed out of the company by investors. Despite these challenges, ZA/UM is pressing forward with the development of a new role-playing game focused on espionage, titled Project C4.
