Channing Tatum Undergoes Shoulder Surgery After Injury

Jayson Tatum recently revealed on Instagram that he was hospitalized with a shoulder injury. He posted a photo of himself in a hospital gown, seemingly in a hospital room, and wrote a message about facing the challenge and working through it, saying, “Just another day. Another challenge. This one is gonna be hard. But whatever. Let’s get it in.”

Tatum shared X-ray images of his shoulder on social media. The first image clearly showed a separated shoulder. The second, captioned “Screwed shoulder. Yay.”, appeared to show the same shoulder after it had been surgically repaired with a screw.

Tatum hasn’t said exactly how he injured his shoulder. Because he often does his own stunts when he can, it’s likely the injury happened while filming.

While filming Avengers: Doomsday, the actor was also battling another injury on top of previous ones. He’s playing Gambit, the Marvel mutant, again in the movie. Speaking to Variety, he explained that it wasn’t just the immediate pain that bothered him, but the realization that the injury would impact the next six months of his life. He jokingly lamented getting older, saying he still feels like he’s in his twenties.

Channing Tatum Undergoes Shoulder Surgery

It’s been a huge year for Channing Tatum, and now he’s having shoulder surgery. I was so thrilled to see his new movie, Josephine, do so well at Sundance – it actually won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award! It’s getting even more attention now, with its international premiere coming up at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 20th, and it’s already up for the Golden Bear award. I’m really excited for him and the film!

I’m so excited to finally see Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit! It’s been a long wait, especially since his movie at 20th Century Fox never happened after Disney bought the studio. But it’s happening now – he’s coming back as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday, and it’s scheduled to release in December!

Channing Tatum believes this movie is going to be huge, predicting it will be seen by everyone and potentially become the biggest film of the next year, or even the next decade. He admits it’s hard to believe, but the creators have consistently exceeded expectations, and he feels unable to adequately express just how impactful the movie will be.

The actor was amazed by the ambitious scale of the project the Russo brothers had planned. He admitted being initially unsure how they would pull it off, describing it as a huge challenge. He remains impressed and says the work they’re doing is really enjoyable.

Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18.
