The live-action adaptation of the ‘Reze Arc’ has announced its actors for Denji and Reze, and the trailer they released is exceeding all expectations.
A new trailer has been released for the live stage play adaptation of the popular manga series Chainsaw Man. Called Chainsaw Man: The Stage, Reze Chapter, the play will focus on the Reze Arc storyline. The trailer’s high production quality closely resembles the upcoming 2025 anime film created by MAPPA.
I was really impressed with how the trailer brought Denji and Reze to life. It perfectly matched the sad, thoughtful feeling of the original anime, and the actors looked remarkably like their characters, which definitely helped.
Chainsaw Man’s Reze Arc Gets a Live Action Trailer
The upcoming play will star Naotake Tsuchiya as Denji and Yui Soma as Reze. Tsuchiya previously played Denji in the 2024 stage adaptation of Chainsaw Man, which you can watch on Crunchyroll, so his casting isn’t a surprise. The trailer highlights Yui Soma as Reze, and she seems perfectly suited for the role.
The trailer announcing the actors showed scenes copied from both the original manga and the anime. These included the kiss between Denji and Reze during the fireworks, their nighttime date at school, and Reze playfully offering to teach Denji everything while they were in the pool.

Following the announcement, Yui Soma commented on her new role in :
I’m truly honored to be part of this project I care about deeply. I want to approach Reze with genuine sincerity, appreciating both her vulnerability and her incredible resilience.
The upcoming Reze Arc of Chainsaw Man: The Stage will likely need even more advanced special effects than the previous Katana Man Arc. Key moments, like Denji’s explosive battle with the Typhoon Devil while on Beam, are known for their incredible scale and energy. Bringing these intense scenes to life on stage will be a major challenge, but the trailer suggests the production team might be able to deliver something truly spectacular.
Chainsaw Man’s Characters Were Always Built For Live Action
I’ll admit, I usually get worried when I hear about live-action adaptations of anime or manga. But with Tatsuki Fujimoto’s work, it’s different! People always talk about how his manga panels already look like movie scenes – it’s super cinematic. That’s why I was so excited to learn that the incredible Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda is tackling a live-action version of another one of his manga!
Fujimoto’s storytelling is deeply rooted in visual detail, making the live-action adaptation feel authentic – more so than some other popular action series like Naruto or Dragon Ball. The biggest challenge might be bringing the intense, devil-focused action of Chainsaw Man to life, and the recent trailer for the stage play seems to be carefully avoiding that aspect.
Fans of the anime and manga Chainsaw Man will soon be able to see a live-action performance focusing on the character Reze. The stage play, Chainsaw Man: The Stage, Reze Chapter, will be performed in Tokyo and Kyoto from July to August. While there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s expected that the play will eventually be available to stream on Crunchyroll after the performances end.
Fans can currently enjoy the original Chainsaw Man: The Stage on Crunchyroll, or watch Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc and other related content through various digital platforms.
