CD Projekt Red Wants Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel To Have Most-Realistic Crowds Ever

Towards the close of last year, CD Projekt Red shifted their attention from refining and repairing Cyberpunk 2077 and moved fully into the development phase for The Witcher 4. However, this doesn’t imply that they’ve stopped planning for future games in the Cyberpunk 2077 series. In a recent job posting, CD Projekt Red expressed their intention to design more captivating Non-Player Characters (NPCs) for the upcoming sequel of Cyberpunk 2077.

According to Video Games Chronicle, CD Projekt Red is searching for a lead encounter designer for what they’re calling Project Orion – the working title for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. The job listing highlights that chosen applicants will work alongside the design team to build an advanced crowd system in games – one that offers the most authentic and responsive behavior ever seen. Additionally, the role requires designing captivating combat scenarios and constructing diverse experiences tailored for various playstyles.

As a gamer, looking back at my experience with Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, it wasn’t the smoothest start for the game, but CD Projekt Red stepped up to rectify most of the significant problems. The Phantom Liberty DLC expansion was a breath of fresh air, enriching Night City’s denizens and scenery. If the developers are planning to take NPC interaction to new heights in the sequel, it’ll be fascinating to witness how crowd encounters might influence the narrative’s shape and rhythm. A more realistic crowd wouldn’t just stand idly by or flee when things turn violent; instead, they could potentially engage with player characters in a more engaging manner, enhancing the overall immersion.

As a devoted fan, I eagerly await any updates about CD Projekt Red’s future projects. While they haven’t given us a timeline for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel yet, it seems that The Witcher 4 might be on the horizon as well, considering it’s currently in development. However, Sebastian Kalemba, the director of The Witcher 4, has expressed confidence that the company won’t make the same mistakes they did with Cyberpunk 2077. Their dedication to rectifying the issues plaguing Cyberpunk 2077 resulted in the game achieving a remarkable 95% rating on Steam four years after its release. It’s reassuring to know that CD Projekt Red is learning from their past experiences and striving for improvement in their upcoming games. I can hardly wait to see what they have in store for us!
