For the year 2024, CD Projekt Group showcased its financial report yet again, underscoring the robustness of its flagship series. Remarkably, even without any new launches, the company managed to generate almost 1 billion PLN ($260 million) in combined revenues and recorded a net profit of approximately 470 million PLN ($120 million).
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share with you some insights from Piotr Nielubowicz, our esteemed CFO and board member. He recently highlighted that the net profit we’ve achieved is not only one of the top three highest in our company’s history but also marks the best performance during a period without a significant product launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 still rules in the numbers
The release of Cyberpunk 2077 significantly influenced the performance of CD Projekt Group. By November 2024, the game had sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and the Phantom Liberty DLC surpassed 8 million sales. Moreover, the industry honored Cyberpunk 2077 with a BAFTA for Best Evolving Game, recognizing its exceptional post-release support.
The game, as previously announced, will soon become available on Apple devices, expanding its audience reach. Additionally, the studio has confirmed a fresh animation series set in the Cyberpunk universe, scheduled for release on Netflix – though this isn’t entirely new information, the developers seem to suggest that there are more plans in store for us.
Ciri won the hearts of fans
2024 saw a significant milestone for our company with the official kickoff of the full-scale development of The Witcher 4, formerly known as Project Polaris. This was unveiled at The Game Awards 2024 held in Los Angeles. The new installment’s trailer showcased Ciri as the main character, a choice that garnered “great” acclaim according to Piotr Nielubowicz. Remarkably, the trailer has sparked renewed interest in the Witcher universe among gamers.
Last year’s TGA trailer for The Witcher stood out as one of the most popular, racking up almost 10 million views on IGN. Moreover, it was the gaming title that generated the most buzz in industry news, making it the talk of the town during the gala event.
CD Projekt highlights that robust financial performance empowers them to carry on growing and pouring investments into novel technologies. Despite substantial outlays for game development and a dividend distribution of 100 million PLN ($25 million), the studio augmented its fiscal reserves by an additional 160 million PLN ($41 million).
