CBS Orders Comedy Pilot ‘DMV,’ to Develop Single-Cam ‘Eternally Yours’ From ‘Ghosts’ Creators

As a seasoned cinephile with decades of television viewing under my belt, I find the latest news from CBS to be quite intriguing. The upcoming single-camera comedy “DMV” and the eternal love story “Eternally Yours” promise to bring a fresh twist to the small screen.

According to EbMaster’s confirmation, CBS has commissioned a pilot episode for the single-camera workplace comedy titled “DMV.” Furthermore, CBS has initiated the development process for another single-camera series called “Eternally Yours” by setting up a writers’ room.

The TV series “DMV” originates from author Dana Klein, who serves as executive producer alongside Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, and Robyn Meisinger. As per the show’s description, “DMV” is set in the place most people dislike visiting the most: the Department of Motor Vehicles. Our unique and endearing characters work at minimum wage, handling customers who are already irritated before they even enter the building. Fortunately, they have each other to lean on.

Previously, Klein has developed two sitcoms for CBS: “9JKL” and “Friends with Better Lives,” both of which Kaplan served as executive producer. Additionally, Klein worked as a producer on the legendary NBC comedy “Friends” from 2001 to 2004.

“The romantic tale ‘Eternally Yours’ was written by creators Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. They also serve as executive producers alongside Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, and Jason Wang. This series follows a unique eternal love story about two vampires who have been married for five centuries, as they grapple with the human boyfriend of their daughter.”

The supernatural comedy “Ghosts” wrapped up its third season on CBS, and fans are eagerly waiting for the fourth season which will premiere in October. As per reports from San Diego Comic-Con, Dean Norris and Mary Holland have been added to the cast for Season 4. Previously, the duo of Port and Wiseman have worked together on various CBS series such as “The Odd Couple,” “Me Myself & I” and the show starring Robin Williams, “The Crazy Ones.”

Deadline first reported the pilot and development news.
