CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach justifies an unexpected scheduling move concerning the show titled “Watson”. Premiering on January 26, featuring Morris Chestnut as the lead, this series picks up a year after Sherlock Holmes seems to have perished at the hands of his greatest adversary, Moriarty. The concept has resonated, with season 2 of “Watson” already renewed; however, fans will need to be patient since the next episode won’t air until 2026.
In comments to Deadline, Reisenbach defended delaying Watson to 2026:
In the interim, we’re encouraging audiences to stream it on Paramount+. However, due to scheduling constraints, there simply wasn’t enough space available. If you examine our schedule, there’s no obvious spot where it could fit.
