Caves of Qud, Roguelike RPG Where You Can Clone and Eat Yourself, Finally Gets Specific Release Date

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation for the impending release of Caves of Qud. This game has been in development for an astounding 15 years, and nearly 10 years in Early Access – a true labor of love that has captured the hearts of many.

Just as we mentioned, the popular roguelike game Caves of Qud is indeed set to leave Early Access this year. Both Freehold Games and Kitfox Games have officially announced that the version 1.0 release will take place on December 5th, marking the end of 15 years of development and almost a decade in early access.

  2. Caves of Qud on GOG.com

Typically, moving to version 1.0 for the game Caves of Qud won’t just involve a simple number change and the formal end of early access. Instead, it will bring a final story quest, multiple endings, and a new tutorial that is currently being tested as part of the beta phase. This revamped tutorial aims to provide a more comprehensive introduction to the gameplay basics. Additionally, the latest patch includes several enhancements, such as an improved settings menu interface for Caves of Qud.

Moreover, Freehold Games is offering a small discount where you can buy the game at a reduced price until October 29th. This deal also offers a special edition of the game that includes a DLC featuring a new soundtrack and companions that were previously exclusive to those who supported the development of Cavers of Qud through the studio’s Patreon.

In the world of Caves of Qud, the story unfolds in a post-apocalyptic science fantasy landscape, complete with sprawling salt deserts and intricate simulated political systems. Each gaming session begins by randomly generating tasks, historical events, and relationships between five ancient leaders, known as sultans. A key feature is an advanced character customization tool, while combat and exploration follow a turn-based format.

The game titled “Caves of Qud” has garnered a modest success, yet its developers have little room to grumble about the response towards their creation. In fact, during Early Access, it has amassed nearly 8,000 reviews and an astounding 95% of these are positive. Here’s hoping that the release of version 1.0 and future updates on the game (as confirmed by the developers) will bring in even more enthusiastic players.
