Doctor Who Recap: What’s Schwup, Doc?

The episode’s narrative subtly explores the theme of gender from the onset, as we are introduced to Alan who expresses disagreement with his girlfriend over being labeled by marital status. It’s somewhat puzzling why Miss Belinda Chandra finds herself attracted to him, given that most of what he says seems questionable. However, he surprises her by buying a star for her birthday, which she considers the most thoughtful gesture anyone has ever made for her.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Recap: RuDemption

This year’s performances showed us the outcome when a concept is applied to a group whose strength doesn’t lie in lip-syncing. While they are talented, it wasn’t the lip-sync battles that stood out to me – instead, I’ll recall this season for the intriguing relationships between the queens. The most memorable moment was Lexi vs. Crystal, but sadly, since Lexi is in the top four, she couldn’t compete in the tournament. It’s the queens’ interactions that make this season unforgettable.

Yellowjackets’s ‘Pit Girl’ Always Thought It Would Be Her

From the very first episode of Yellowjackets, viewers have been intrigued by the mystery surrounding “Pit Girl,” a nickname for a character who first appeared in the show’s opening scene. This woman, with her dark hair and bare feet, is seen running through snowy woods wearing a white nightgown, a heart-shaped pendant, and trying to escape her ruthless teammates in the Canadian wilderness. However, she ends up falling into a concealed pit filled with sharp stakes, and later, the team consumes her flesh. This character remains an enigma and is at the center of one of the show’s most significant mysteries.

Dope Thief Recap: So Much Top 40

The team of Peter Craig, director Jonathan van Tulleken, editor Jennifer Barbot, and their crew skillfully blend a compact storyline with an intriguing dose of surrealism in their production, transforming Ray’s hallucination into a compelling and accessible journey. In some ways, it mirrors the heroin withdrawal scene of Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle from French Connection II, but instead of focusing on external struggles, it delves deeper into the protagonist’s internal turmoil.

The Completist’s Guide to Streaming Alex Garland Movies

Contrary to previous assumptions, Alex Garland did not step away from filmmaking. In fact, following the success of his movie “Civil War”, he also didn’t abandon war-themed films. This is exciting news, as Garland’s movies, whether you admire or criticize them, are always thought-provoking. The same can be said for his latest release this week, titled “Warfare”.

What Was America?

In simpler terms, the movie “G20,” directed by Patricia Riggen and seemingly written by multiple authors, appears to be an ideal project for a Harris victory in pop culture. The film seems so confident that it would be released in another reality that the only direct mention of Danielle Sutton’s groundbreaking presidency comes as a casual comment about her working twice as hard to reach her position.

“G20” is heavily focused on institutions, even though public trust in these entities wanes during the movie’s duration and its main character gained initial fame by rescuing a child, an action that her adversary, Rutledge (Antony Starr), calls a “war for gasoline.” Despite this, the film suggests that institutions are flawed but can still make progress, as demonstrated by a Black woman becoming president, an event more significant than her actual political beliefs. These beliefs are only hinted at through vague references to policies aimed at making digital banking accessible to rural residents in Africa. The character’s Democratic leanings are suggested more by the casting of Elizabeth Marvel as her Secretary of the Treasury, who is reminiscent of a sinister Hillary Clinton figure.

Black Mirror Season-Finale Recap: Clone Wars

The season was saving its finest moments for the end, giving the impression that Charlie Brooker might have spent more time and resources on this extended finale rather than the previous episodes – not just 76 minutes as in the original “USS Callister,” but a full 90 minutes. We’ve grown accustomed to quality and flair with this series, but this episode takes things to an epic level.

How The Pitt’s Guest Actors Performed the Worst Day of Their Lives

Speaking candidly, she acknowledges her initial apprehension about taking on the role of Trish, a woman traumatized by a mass shooting who lost her husband and is uncertain about her daughter’s fate. “I understood the gravity of it,” she explains, “and I wanted to do justice to that because sadly, many people have gone through this.” Much like any actor, Christopher had concerns about not being able to portray the necessary depth of emotion in her scenes, especially one where Trish snaps out of her trance and cries over her past. However, when it was time to film, she discovered an unexpected issue: she struggled to hold back the intense feelings that were welling up within her.
