Titled “Reincarnate,” this nine-episode series introduces Tulio, a man who spent 18 years in prison for killing his partner Caio. Upon his release from prison on his first day of freedom, Tulio contemplates suicide, but is visited by a teenager claiming to be the reborn Caio. The duo then embarks on a mission to uncover the truth behind Caio’s death, bring the real killer to justice, and restore Tulio’s tarnished reputation. Set amidst the Brazilian countryside, the series stars Taís Araujo (“Shades of Sin,” ‘A Mother’s Love’), Julia Dalavia (“Pantanal”), and Grace Passô (“The Day I Met You”).

In Berlin, EbMaster conversed with Fabiano Gullane, who highlighted that Gullane is intensifying its distribution endeavors. According to Fabiano, the trio has always found joy in the distribution aspect of their work and have recognized the potential of utilizing their extensive experience to manage some of their titles. To begin with, Gullane+ will prioritize documentaries and smaller productions, while continuing significant projects through their established partnership with Brazilian distributors such as Paris Filmes.

Cinétévé, based in Paris, has collaborated with France TV and Be-Films from Belgium to create ‘Danger in the Valley’. This thrilling production is set to debut at the February 23rd-27th edition of MIP London.

Third Ear Studio, a Scandinavian podcast production company, is also merging with the two film and TV production groups.

In collaboration with Luminous Beast, Wild Sheep – a production company led by Barmack, who was previously in charge of international originals at Netflix and oversaw popular series like “The Witcher,” “Money Heist,” “Kingdom,” and “Sacred Games” – will co-produce the show titled “Good Bones.

The deal was worked out by Melissa Boag (executive VP of Shout! Studios), Mark Balsam, Bruce Eisen from Eisen Law, Steven Katz (VP of business affairs at Shout), and Werner Kienberger (film writer and producer from Plaion). Sola Media is transferring the rights for the remaining territories during Berlin’s European Film Market.

The movie delivers unexpected yet fitting aesthetic and story twists that unveil chilling truths, resonating deeply within the viewers, as if they’ve known them all along. This film skillfully employs deception in depicting human bodies dealing with disability and gender dysphoria – initially as symbolic allegory, later as raw social commentary. Explaining its plot requires effort, but every second of its two-hour duration is carefully crafted without a single instance feeling out of place.

Last year, it was found that viewers in Korea watched a staggering 131 billion minutes of high-tier VOD content, representing an impressive 18% increase from the previous year (2023). This surge led to a revenue generation of $2 billion, a 14% rise compared to the same period last year. Moreover, the number of subscriptions soared to 22.9 million in total.

For years, I’ve admired Masaaki Yuasa for his extraordinary and inventive narratives that have made a significant impact on the animation industry.
