Nielsen recently looked at what people were streaming at home in the lead-up to Halloween, and some horror titles are performing surprisingly well. For the week of October 1st to 7th, the data shows that M3GAN 2.0 was the most-streamed horror movie, racking up 115 million minutes on Peacock, closely followed by Scream. In fact, three other 2025 horror releases landed in the top 10 that week: Bring Her Back at number 3, 28 Years Later at number 4, and Sinners at number 8.

Before this week’s episode, Olympia and Matty only knew that Deborah had a brief romance with Senior 15 years ago during a work trip to Australia. It’s common for Batman movies to include multiple villains, but usually they focus on just a few from the DC universe – even the comic books rarely feature a huge roster of enemies at the same time. As hinted at in the trailers for the new movie Wicked: For Good, familiar characters from The Wizard of Oz – including Dorothy Gale, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion – will appear, with an Oscar-nominated actor providing their voice. Director Chu has now confirmed that Dorothy will be visible in the film, but her face will remain hidden, putting an end to speculation about who would play her. He told People that he didn’t want to interfere with viewers’ existing ideas of Dorothy, and stressed that the story will still focus on Elphaba and Glinda, with Dorothy playing a smaller role in their journey.

Netflix released a final trailer for the upcoming release on November 7th. The trailer offers a clearer look at the Creature, showing both its human and monstrous sides, after months of keeping details under wraps.

James Gunn’s recent projects, like the upcoming season of Peacemaker and his new take on Superman, seem remarkably prescient, reflecting current anxieties about political extremism and powerful figures. However, Gunn isn’t simply predicting the future; he’s a skilled storyteller with a clear understanding of human nature and history. He delivers impactful messages – often critical of authoritarianism – while still providing the action, twists, and spectacle that superhero fans demand. Interestingly, the superhero genre itself has always flirted with both democratic and authoritarian themes since its beginnings in 1938. Gunn’s work leans strongly into hopeful, progressive ideals, making it notably more outspoken and utopian than other big-budget superhero films.

As a big fan of Ghosts, I always expect the Halloween episodes to be extra chaotic, and this year’s didn’t disappoint! They woke up the mummy, Amunhotep, and he was not happy with the Woodstone family. The whole thing led to Hetty desperately trying to cover up the fact that she’d bought his sarcophagus way back in 1890 – she even did a fantastic Marge Gunderson impression from Fargo to try and deflect! It was surprisingly sweet to see things end on a good note for Hetty and Trevor, and Rebecca Wisocky talked about how much fun it was playing Hetty’s crazy adventure.

Stallone explained that his new film, available on Paramount+, is another adaptation of the novel First Blood – the same book his 1982 movie was based on. Having read the book a long time ago and knowing the film differed significantly, I decided to watch The Hunted. It’s a really intense movie.

Some TV shows grab viewers right away, but others grow into surprisingly creative and unique superhero stories. They might begin with typical storylines or a slow start, but often develop into something special with thought-provoking ideas and memorable characters. These shows often don’t make a strong first impression, but they truly shine as they progress.
