As a long-time fan, I was pretty shocked during the latest episode when it turned out Poppy wasn’t the Doctor’s daughter after all! It was revealed she’s actually the child of Belinda, one of the Doctor’s companions, and a man we never even saw. I just read an interview with Carole Ann Ford – it was great to see her back as Susan Foreman! – and she said the ending was actually changed from the original plan. It’s fascinating to hear how things evolve behind the scenes!

Guillermo del Toro’s film version of Frankenstein stays true to the original story, but the director makes a few key changes to highlight specific ideas from the book. A great example is Jacob Elordi’s portrayal of the monster, which challenges what audiences might expect based on other adaptations.

For years, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was considered the best anime ever by many fans. But the dedicated fanbase that fiercely defended its top ranking in the early 2000s has seen its position challenged. This became clear when another anime took the #1 spot on My Anime List in 2024. Now, FMA: Brotherhood has lost another title – it’s no longer the highest-rated action anime. That honor now belongs to a different, highly praised dark fantasy anime that’s currently popular in the United States.

I’ve been giving some thought to the main characters in movies like Road House, Point Break, and Dirty Dancing, and it seems unlikely they’d bother with underwear. Here’s my reasoning.

Getting some Mega Evolutions can take a little effort, as you often need to complete certain parts of the game and do extra things. For example, Mega Lucario in Pokémon Legends: Z-A requires finding a Riolu and becoming good friends with it to trigger the evolution. Mega Dragalge is much easier to get, though you might need to search for Skrelp in a specific area.

Every now and then, I’d stumble upon a movie that truly disturbed me. Films like Day of the Dead or Lucio Fulci’s Zombie Flesh Eaters were particularly memorable for their graphic violence, and watching them at a younger age—before I was supposed to—made them even more shocking. However, revisiting those films as an adult wasn’t quite the same experience.

Sir Christopher Lee was a truly wonderful performer, and I’ve always been a huge fan. While I appreciate his performance as Saruman in the films, I think Peter Jackson’s version simplifies the character as presented in J.R.R. Tolkien’s books. The movie Saruman is a great villain, but he loses some of the depth and complexity found in the original novels, largely because the film focuses less on the character’s mysterious and spiritual side.

Earp and Holliday quickly become the central figures in Tombstone, attracting attention with their charm and mysteriousness. However, in a town brimming with gambling and other shady activities, they’re far from traditional heroes. Interestingly, the film actually does center on two heroic characters from the start, though they aren’t who many people would anticipate.

MacHale and Ned Kandel, Are You Afraid of the Dark? centers around the Midnight Society—a group of teenagers who gather in a hidden location in the woods at midnight to share spooky tales. Each night, a different member tells a story, blending elements of horror, science fiction, fantasy, and drama.

Though he played a minor character in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Ekow Quartey has become a more familiar face on stage and screen. Seven years after his acting debut, he joined Shakespeare’s Globe and has since performed in numerous roles, including Forest Lord and William in As You Like It, Nana and Tootles in Peter Pan, and the title role in Macbeth. Most recently, he starred as JJ in the 2025 British comedy series Amandaland. Despite continuing his acting career, Quartey is still fondly remembered for his brief but memorable appearance in the third Harry Potter film.
