Filming for The Batman — Part II is starting soon, and casting news is picking up. While rumors suggest Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman) and Cristin Milioti (Sofia Falcone, from The Penguin series) might not return, there’s talk of Oscar Isaac potentially joining the cast. However, the most solid news points to a major star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Scarlett Johansson. Reports initially indicated she was in discussions for a role, and now Deadline has confirmed those talks. Johansson joining The Batman Epic Crime Saga is a significant development, and fans are already speculating about which character she might play.

Sources speaking to The New York Post describe the competition between the two major entertainment companies vying for Warner Bros. Discovery assets as incredibly tight – a true toss-up with each having an equal chance of winning.

The new MGM+ series Robin Hood feels strangely designed to discourage the idea of a hero fighting for the common person. Instead of being driven by his own beliefs, this Robin Hood is molded by others, his motivations and even his name imposed upon him. The show spends a lot of time on a needlessly complicated backstory, and shockingly, Robin Hood ends up supporting a queen – agreeing to modify his rebellion to help her. It’s a bizarre twist, especially for a story in 2025, and it makes me wonder if Prime Video (which owns MGM+) is trying to offset the anti-capitalist themes of their show I’m a Virgo. This version of Robin Hood feels like a betrayal of the original story’s spirit.

A new romantic interest could appear alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the sequel. Unfortunately, Zoë Kravitz likely won’t be returning as Catwoman, which will disappoint fans of the character. The film is currently planned for release on October 1, 2027 – over five years after the first movie premiered in March 2022. Director Matt Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter this September that filming will begin in the spring, explaining the delay was due to wanting to perfect the script and make it the best it could be. He joked that he could ask Scarlett Johansson for feedback, given her experience with sequels.

Okay, so Five Nights at Freddy’s 2… it definitely tries to do a lot more. I appreciate the ambition, and it looks better, no question. But honestly, it’s kind of a mess. It swaps out the simple, effective creepiness of the first game for a bunch of confusing stuff. It builds up this whole world, but instead of making things scarier, it just feels… smaller. It’ll build some tension, and then just throws it away to focus on expanding lore that doesn’t really add anything.

Imogen Poots leads in The Chronology of Water, a film inspired by Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir. It tells the story of a woman coping with trauma and loss by expressing herself through art. Kristen Stewart, in addition to her role in The Twilight Saga, has appeared in films like Snow White and the Huntsman, Love Lies Bleeding, Charlie’s Angels, and Spencer – the latter earning her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

A recent report from The DisInsider suggests Marvel Studios may have cancelled their plans for the Blade movie, even though there’s been talk of it still being in development. The report claims Blade, played by Mahershala Ali, could instead appear in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars or a potential Midnight Sons film. However, The DisInsider admits their Marvel information isn’t always accurate, so this should be considered just a rumor.

I was so excited when Denis Villeneuve made a sequel to Blade Runner, and it was amazing to see Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Edward James Olmos, Jared Leto, and David Dastmalchian all in it! Now, if you’re like me and love the film, great news – Blade Runner 2049 is finally available to stream on YouTube Premium.

The hit show Taskmaster is coming to the U.S. for a tour in January 2025, following a promotional visit for its 19th season starring Jason Mantzoukas. The tour will include shows in New York City (January 22-23), Chicago (January 15), Boston (January 17), Philadelphia (January 19), and Washington, D.C. (January 21). Each show will feature different celebrity guests and give audience members a chance to participate in challenges. Attendees can also expect tasks designed by Alex Horne for the whole crowd, a Q&A with Greg Davies and Alex Horne, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the series.

Marvel Studios is adding another mutant character to its growing list for on-screen appearances. Byron Bowers will play Doorman (real name DeMarr Davis) in the upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man. The news was revealed in the Winter 2025 issue of D23 Magazine, giving fans a first look at the character’s live-action debut. (Source: The Direct)
