The fourth episode of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy explores the heartbreaking history of Jay-Den Kraag, explaining the difficult situation facing the Klingon Empire in the late 32nd century. As Jay-Den grapples with his identity – being both a Klingon warrior and a Starfleet student – he develops a daring plan to rescue the remaining Klingon refugees and find them a new planet to call home.
Idris Elba has had an incredibly diverse movie career. He’s voiced characters in big animated hits, been in several films that made over a billion dollars worldwide, and acted in a wide range of genres – from Westerns and superhero movies to biographical dramas. Because of this variety, it’s hard to pick out his single best performance.
Harry’s first day with the 118 brought about a lot of changes, and quietly revealed a significant, but often overlooked, problem within the world of 9-1-1. The show is entering a new phase, especially after the events of season 8, where Bobby’s death dramatically altered life at the Los Angeles firehouse.
As a huge cinema fan, I’m incredibly excited about Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles project! It’s going to be four separate films, each one dedicated to telling the story of a different member of the band. The cast is fantastic – Barry Keoghan is playing Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson will be John Lennon, Joseph Quinn is George Harrison, and Paul Mescal is taking on the role of Paul McCartney. We just got our first glimpse of the actors as their iconic counterparts, and it’s already generating a lot of buzz – thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long, as all the films are scheduled to come out on April 7, 2028.
It’s common for critics to be tough on genre films, and harsh reviews can sometimes hurt a movie’s performance at the box office. But even though some sci-fi movies have poor ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, many of them are actually much better than critics suggest.
Despite being called uninspired, a cheap imitation of The Da Vinci Code, and a weak sequel to the Indiana Jones movies, Fountain of Youth managed to stay in the Top 10 for a surprisingly long time. This is even more remarkable considering fans didn’t like it much either. The film has a ‘Rotten’ score of only 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a very low 38% audience score, with one viewer commenting:
Sam Raimi, a director known for his playful style, creative mixing of genres, and dynamic camera work, started his career with the cult classic The Evil Dead and refined his approach with Evil Dead II. Despite being well-regarded, he remained a somewhat obscure genre filmmaker until he directed the blockbuster Spider-Man trilogy. While hugely successful, those films proved difficult to move beyond. After a couple of smaller projects, Raimi didn’t direct a feature for almost ten years, until another superhero opportunity arose in 2022. His latest film, Send Help, is a return to the low-budget, inventive filmmaking that defined his early work, and it’s a great chance to look back at his entire filmography of sixteen movies.
Doug Leibowitz, a middle school drama teacher, often wonders what Eugene O’Neill would think of his life. Doug dreamed of being a successful playwright, but his career never took off. Now, he’s dealing with a recent breakup from Abigail Morris, the art teacher he was supposed to work with on the school’s production of West Side Story. When he discovers Abigail is now dating the principal, Mr. Brady, Doug decides to get back at them by dramatically changing the play to a bizarre musical he’s written about the events of 9/11.
The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, comes out on April 1st. While I was confident it would do well, I didn’t think it would match the incredible success of the first film. Reaching $1 billion in box office revenue is difficult now, and this movie didn’t have the same initial hype as the original Mario film. I predicted Galaxy would be a major hit and one of the year’s biggest, but still wouldn’t quite reach the same heights as its predecessor.
I just finished listening to ‘Out of Darkness: Heavy is the Crown Vol.2,’ and it’s a really captivating dive into historical events. It definitely took me on a journey!
