An animated series based on Final Fantasy IX was originally announced in 2021, a joint project between Square Enix and Cyber Group Studios. The show generated excitement because it promised traditional 2D animation and a faithful adaptation of the popular medieval fantasy world and characters. However, after Cyber Group Studios closed down in early 2025, the project appeared to be cancelled. Now, surprisingly, it seems to be moving forward again.

Gunn and Melchior are friends, and just as Gunn often does with actors he likes, he cast her in another film, this time as Ura in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Because Melchior previously starred in Road House and has a connection to the person now leading DC Universe creative decisions, fans are wondering if she might reprise her role as Ratcatcher 2 in future DC projects.

Jeffries recently told ScreenRant that the flashbacks in season 2 of Percy Jackson show Thalia acting as an older sister figure to Annabeth while they were both on the run. Although Annabeth’s bravery comes partly from her mother, Athena, the flashbacks also demonstrate that she learned a lot of it from Thalia.

It’s become clear that TV shows are struggling to recreate the success of Game of Thrones, and the constant attempts are starting to feel repetitive. This has shifted the focus of fantasy TV, with many new shows now prioritizing complex politics and violence over traditional fantasy storytelling. Hopefully, with the Game of Thrones universe exploring new directions, it can once again lead to innovation in the genre.

The movie Marty Supreme is full of unbelievable events. Throughout the film, Marty Mauser (Timothée Chalamet) gets away with outrageous things – from a relationship with actress Kay Stone (Gwyneth Paltrow) to accidentally blowing up a gas station – often just by saying “I love you” and running away. However, the most unbelievable moment comes at the very end, when Marty is suddenly overcome with emotion at the sight of his newborn baby. The film never suggests he’s capable of such a reaction, and this emotional turn feels unearned and like a convenient way to wrap up the story, much like Marty’s constant escapes.

Chevy Chase briefly suggested to Lorne Michaels that he be included in the SNL 50th anniversary show, but quickly retracted the idea, admitting he even sent a text saying it was “silly.” However, he believes it was a mistake to leave him out, saying someone should have included him on stage and that it bothered him. According to Chase’s wife, Jayni, there were two potential segments featuring him that the show’s producers were considering, but neither made it into the final broadcast.

The fourth episode of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians clearly shows why it’s a stronger adaptation than the 2013 film, Sea of Monsters. With a dedicated fanbase, Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books set a high standard for any attempt to bring them to the screen. Director Chris Columbus previously tried to do just that.

The film takes place in the summer of 2003, during the second week of a water polo camp. We meet Ben, played by Everett Blunck, who is having trouble keeping up with the other players. He’s a new camper, quiet and unsure of himself, and easily intimidated by the more forceful boys. When the coach, known as Daddy Wags (Joel Edgerton), asks him to explain the basics of the sport, Ben stumbles over his words and is immediately ridiculed by Jake (Kayo Martin), who seems to lead the other boys in a pack. Ben also notices Eli (Kenny Rasmussen), an unusual boy in a long blue rash guard, sitting by himself at the side of the pool, quietly talking to himself.

Overnight, Power Rangers became a huge cultural phenomenon, expanding far beyond its original TV show into toys, movies, and a dedicated fanbase that continues today. Each new season consistently reinvents itself, exploring diverse themes from ninja training to space adventures and even post-apocalyptic conflicts. Whether it’s the lighthearted fun of Alien Rangers or the more serious storylines of R.P.M., the franchise has always been known for trying new things. Now that Cosmic Fury, which continued the story of the Dino Fury cast in space, has finished airing and concluded the current saga, it’s a great time to revisit every series that introduced us to new Rangers, villains, and worlds.
