For me, horror really took off when sound was added to movies, and especially when Universal started making those classic monster films. Since then, it’s been amazing watching the genre evolve – we’ve had everything from really artistic, ‘prestige’ horror to the straightforward thrills of monster movies, the intensity of slashers, the immersive feel of found footage, and even horror that playfully acknowledges its own tropes. It feels like each of these different styles had at least one film that truly pushed things forward and changed how we think about scary movies.

While Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere might gain popularity like last year’s Bob Dylan documentary A Complete Unknown, overall, movie theaters are still expected to have a slow month. There’s a strong possibility that KPop Demon Hunters and Sinners will outperform the new releases during the Halloween weekend.

I was watching the UK version of Celebrity Traitors recently, and something hilarious happened. It was Celia Imrie – you might know her from The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix – who was the one responsible! Last week, CBS launched Boston Blue, a new series expanding the world of Blue Bloods, as part of its 2025 lineup. The premiere brought Donnie Wahlberg back as Danny Reagan, who traveled to Boston after his son, Sean, was hurt. There, he teamed up with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green) from the Boston PD. In addition to Bridget Moynahan reprising her role as Erin Reagan, Marisa Ramirez returned as Maria Baez, and she’s recently hinted at some difficult times ahead for her character and Danny.

Jason Statham shared a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming film The Beekeeper 2 on Instagram, alongside director Timo Tjahjanto. They’re promising another action-packed thriller following the success of last year’s The Beekeeper. The sequel introduces Statham as a secretive assassin on a revenge mission that leads him right to the White House. With the first film setting the stage, The Beekeeper 2 has the potential to be a truly thrilling and exciting action movie. Statham simply captioned the photo, “Round 2 #Beekeeper2,” and you can see the new image of them filming below.

Many older DC TV shows that fans would love to see return are currently available to watch online or buy. Even though Warner Bros. recently changed direction with its DC Universe plans, there’s still a lot of classic DC programming from years ago that people are hoping will be updated for today’s audiences. These series didn’t get much attention when they first aired, or were overshadowed by bigger hits, but they’ve continued to resonate with viewers long after they ended.

Perhaps Nathan could start surprising them with check-ins to motivate them?
