Casey Anthony’s TikTok Debut Sparks Outrage

In a twist that’s stirring up conversation, Casey Anthony – the Florida woman who was acquitted of murdering her daughter Caylee Marie Anthony in 2011 – has joined TikTok. Her debut video has left many viewers unsettled, sparking a heated discussion online.

In October 2008, Anthony faced accusations of first-degree murder concerning her daughter. The trial lasted until 2011, during which time she was ultimately acquitted of the gravest allegations. This case drew substantial media coverage.

On July 5, 2011, the jury determined that Casey was not responsible for the charges of first-degree murder, severe child abuse, and manslaughter of a child, but they did find her guilty on four accounts of giving misleading statements to the police.

Since the well-known court case, Casey Anthony has stayed away from social media platforms for a while, but in March 2025, she made an appearance on TikTok and shared her first video, which didn’t sit well with some of its users.

In her video, she expressed that this is likely the first of several recordings for a new series. She is a lawyer and researcher who has been working in the legal field since 2011. To continue her work as an advocate, she believes it’s essential to start advocating for herself and also for her daughter.

The video quickly went viral, amassing over 1.4M views and thousands of likes within two days.

Despite disabling the comment section on her video, Anthony’s followers still expressed their disagreement with her account in various ways.

Why on earth is Casey Anthony appearing on my screen, discussing video production, as she now claims to be an advocate? Absolutely not, ma’am. We don’t need advocates like her… What skills are you going to share with people, help them evade justice like she did?

100% NO. It’s crucial that we distance Casey Anthony from public attention again. Time may heal some wounds, but the actions she took can never truly be forgotten.

A user stated: “It’s time for Casey Anthony to be removed from TikTok and avoided in public life. We do not condone or support individuals who commit heinous acts like child murder.

A different user commented that it’s audacious of Casey Anthony to use TikTok, suggesting she’s speaking up for her deceased daughter.

Some users found themselves rediscovering an old case due to its age, as they were either unaware of it or had forgotten about it entirely. This sudden interest led to increased searches related to the case, along with a surge in explanatory videos and social media posts detailing the events.

Following her clearance, Anthony’s information wasn’t added to the parolee system in the state due to threats against her life. In 2022, she took part in a documentary on Peacock titled ‘Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies’, sharing insights about her life before and after the trial.
