Can you romance in Persona 5 X? There are plenty of characters to meet, but not all of them are looking for love

Today marks the global release of Persona 5 The Phantom X, implying it’s high time for me to bid farewell to my dear friends and kin, as from now, all my focus will shift towards my mobile device. It’s ironic that I recently managed to kick my Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket habit… Fortunately, this isn’t just about gacha, similar to the original Persona 5 and most other games in the series. In fact, this time around, there’s the possibility of romance involved. So, let’s discover who will be winning our affection in this new adventure.

Every character you can bond with in Persona 5 X

In the game titled “Persona 5: The Phantom X“, similar to the original series, you’ll encounter a relationship-building system known as confidants. As you advance through the narrative, you’ll come across numerous characters whose bonds can reach level 20. Raising these relationships isn’t merely for aesthetics; it offers significant rewards beyond simple gems or cosmetic items. You can unlock new abilities, fusions, and other beneficial aspects. Therefore, it’s wise to invest your time getting acquainted with each character.

In this game, as usual, you have multiple ways to strengthen your bond with characters. You could spend time together, exchange presents, or discover new places. Once a character reaches rank 15, your friendship deepens significantly, potentially leading to a romantic interaction if that character is dateable. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to verify every potential love interest in the game, so let me introduce you to some of the characters you’ll encounter:

  1. Merope – The Velvet Room attendant you’ll meet at the very start of the game.
  2. Lufel – Think of him as Morgana’s brother from another mother.
  3. Kira Kitazato – A doctor who loves hanging out at the arcade (a new version of Tae Takemi).
  4. Shun Kanou – A lovable ramen enthusiast.
  5. Ayaka Sakai – A girl with a guitar and social anxiety, so major Futaba vibes.
  6. Tomoko Noge – One of your coworkers from your part-time job.
  7. Miyu Sahara – A literal puppet master.
  8. Kayo Tomiyama – A housewife who really wants to be your friend.
  9. Yumi Shiina – A bartender with a passion for dancing.
  10. Li Yaoling – A Chinese exchange student who’s eager to explore Japan.
  11. Kiyoshi Kurotani – A self-proclaimed wonder kid who believes to be the chosen one.
  12. Motoha Arai – Your best friend, basically the Ryuji of this story.
