Can You Change Class In Oblivion Remastered?

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you have 21 distinct Classes to select from initially, plus an option to create your own custom Class. These Classes shape the character’s starting Attribute values and decide which Skills are given a Major or Minor focus. However, as you progress through the game, you might find yourself reconsidering your initial choice or wanting to experiment with another Class without having to start over from scratch.

Can You Change Class In Oblivion Remastered?

Once players emerge from the sewers and complete the tutorial in Oblivion Remastered, there’s unfortunately no formal method to alter your Class. But, if you’re playing on a PC platform, there’s a workaround using console commands.

Although it might be frustrating for console players, they shouldn’t worry unduly because in Oblivion Remastered, classes aren’t particularly decisive. Essentially, players have the freedom to improve any Skill they prefer by consistently using it, and they can allocate Attribute points as they see fit when they level up.

Changing Your Class When Exiting The Sewers

Just like we talked about earlier, once I’ve finished the tutorial, I get a single shot at customizing my character’s Class. Stepping out of the sewers, I’ll be prompted to confirm if I’m satisfied with how things are right now. If not, I can tweak my appearance, race, class, and even my character’s birthsign.

It’s wise to save your progress manually, right before exiting the sewers. This way, you can easily load that save to play as different characters without needing to repeat the tutorial.

How To Change Class In Oblivion Remastered On PC With Console Commands

In the game Oblivion Remastered, there are numerous console commands available. One of these lets players alter their character class. To access these commands, you can either use the backtick key (`) or tilde key (~). It is advisable to create a manual save file before making any changes, just in case you’re not satisfied with them.

Be aware that using console commands will disable all Achievements for that save.

After opening the console, type:

  • showclassmenu

After hitting ‘Enter’, proceed by clicking the console command key similar to earlier. If everything goes smoothly, the Class Selection menu will appear. To select a fresh class for your journey, simply follow the usual process.

What Changes Will Be Made?

Pay attention as your primary Attribute points may shift. If you’re past Level 1 and have already boosted these attributes, the extra points will automatically be distributed towards attributes that are more important for your newly chosen class.

There are also console commands to change Attribute and Skill levels.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed a fresh set of Major Abilities has been bestowed upon me, with my old ones now downgraded to Minor Skills. The values for these abilities have also been adjusted, which could potentially strip me of certain benefits I previously enjoyed from my major skills. Some of my attributes have been scaled back, and as a result, I might no longer be able to perform specific spells or expect other modifications too.
