Virtual streamer Camila accused VShojo of a harsh practice, suggesting they rejected all finalists from their auditions and subsequently offered them “silencing funds” instead.
This July has been a tumultuous period for VTubers, marked by the unexpected decline of VShojo following Ironmouse’s departure. She alleged that the company failed to fulfill its charitable obligation of donating $500,000 as part of her subathon event.
Subsequently, a large number of VTubers decided to leave VShojo, and several more came forward to share their personal issues with the company and its leader, GunRun.
In a matter of only a few days, VShojo ceased operations. GunRun subsequently confirmed that the promised $500K was never paid, and admitted to having poorly managed the company.
In the aftermath, many other VTubers have been speaking openly about their experiences with the organization, and as Camila mentioned, some creators were reportedly offered money to keep quiet about an employment issue, which was essentially a cover-up.
Camila alleges VShojo sent VTubers “hush money”
On X’s post, Camila disclosed that back in 2022, she submitted an application to VShojo as they were actively seeking out smaller streamers.
According to Camila, she advanced through the initial two stages of the audition, but following her progression to round 3, she was abruptly left without any further communication, leaving her perplexed.
Despite this, she persevered and began blossoming as an artist, eventually finding herself in a discussion with a more prominent VTuber who also auditioned for VShojo at the same time she did.
According to Camila, she advanced to the final stage, but at the last minute, they chose someone familiar instead, and even those VTubers involved were paid to keep quiet about it.
The girls felt incredibly disappointed, much like the rest of us who were unexpectedly let go. To put it simply, thank you for squandering everyone’s precious time.
Additionally, she mentioned that numerous VShojo talents had contacted her while emotionally distressed due to being overlooked, unpaid, and lacking responses from the company for a period of six months.
She exclaimed forcefully, ‘It’s unjustifiable to treat someone so kind and diligent in such a cruel manner and rob them.'”
Or simply,
“She strongly objected, saying it was unfair to treat someone so nice and dedicated in such a harsh way and take what wasn’t theirs.
Afterward, the prominent VTuber shared a rendition of Billie Eilish’s track “Your Power,” a song containing lyrics about misusing power. Notably, she tailored this performance as a tribute to GunRun in an apparent reference or message.
It’s not just her; others are also speaking up against VShojo now that they have disbanded. In fact, on July 24, Veibae disclosed that VShojo had warned her about potential legal action if she discussed them after leaving their agency.
