Next week, there’s a significant change coming to Call of Duty’s user-interface as announced by Activision. How to download the UI/Black Ops 6 update

This new UI update is available to download on Monday, October 21 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

For those who already have Call of Duty installed, the preload for Black Ops 6 will be delivered to them automatically as an update to their current setup. This is much like past Call of Duty updates. Activision advises that the download size will be larger for these players since they’re not only getting the new game but also a fresh user interface with Black Ops 6.

For those who have pre-ordered Black Ops 6, if you haven’t yet installed Call of Duty on your platform, you can start the preload from your storefront. Note that this initial download won’t include Warzone as it comes bundled with Black Ops 6; instead, Warzone is now a standalone and optional download you can get separately.

Upon finishing the download, gamers can instantly explore the updated user interface within MW3 and Warzone. Additionally, they will be prepared to dive into Call of Duty: Black Oops 6 once it becomes available. For details on the release date of Black Ops 6, please refer to this link.

How to manage storage space

When Black Ops 6 gets released, players who want to keep all their old content may find that their device needs more storage space for Call of Duty, as the new game will be stacked upon the existing files instead of replacing them.

As a devoted fan, I can share that you don’t have to part ways permanently with any content in Call of Duty. You can manage your games within the user-interface itself or through the install manager on your platform. Once you decide to let go, don’t worry, it’s not goodbye forever! You can always reinstall it whenever you fancy a reunion.

Activision announces that PlayStation 5 users who don’t buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 can still download the game’s multiplayer and Zombies modes as part of their Call of Duty installation. This streamlines the download process for the PS5’s content delivery system. Users have the option to delete these components later, or keep them for convenience during free trial weekends or potential future Black Ops 6 purchases.

Players using PlayStation 4 who don’t buy Black Ops 6 will nevertheless download some shared content related to both Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone. The publisher explains this is done to enhance “content adjustments that favor all players on PlayStation 4,” implying that these files cannot be deleted from the PS4 console.

How to navigate the new UI

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that when Call of Duty unveils its fresh interface, there will be three primary zones: Home, All Games, and Store. Each zone presents all its content on a single screen, doing away with the need for scrolling. The revamped Home tab, as depicted in the image above, is a noteworthy enhancement.

On the Home tab, you’ll find exclusively the latest Call of Duty game and Warzone. This is where you can discover highlighted content, a “Popular Playlists & Bundles” list showcasing trending options, and a section that displays your recently played playlists for easy access.

As a dedicated fan, I’m excited that when Black Ops 6 launches, it will gather my entire Call of Duty collection, including Modern Warfare 3 and Modern Warfare 2, into one convenient “All Games” hub. This means that from Modern Warfare 2019 right up to the latest release, all my favorite games are now easily accessible!

In simpler terms, the central Store hub will direct gamers to the complete Call of Duty in-game marketplaces, which can be accessed through the user interface (UI) during gameplay for Black Ops 6, Warzone, and additional titles.

Continued UI evolution

During the first stage, the initial download aims to offer a smoother and more intuitive user interface. However, Call of Duty’s user interface is set to undergo further improvements across three primary stages. The developer assures that these changes will culminate in the UI realizing its full potential with the beginning of Season 1.

During Phase 1, Modern Warfare 3 remains on the Home screen until Black Ops 6 is launched. However, players will continue to access the in-game store for Modern Warfare 3 even from the Store tab.

In Phase 2, the spotlight shifts towards Black Oops 6 in our main Home Store sections, however, the Store will guide players according to the games they’ve installed. This implies that players will be led to Black Ops 6 only if they’ve already downloaded it.

In phase 3, we’ll guide everyone towards the Black Ops 6 marketplace. This update signifies the beginning of season 1, which also integrates with Warzone. However, a release date for this update is yet to be announced, as Activision has classified the start time of season 1 as confidential information.

On October 25th, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch across various platforms including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and personal computers (PC). The game offers a campaign mode, multiplayer, and Zombies. For those who wish to play Black Ops 6 on their PCs, you can find the specific PC features and hardware requirements detailed here.
