Call Of Duty: MW2 Remastered Multiplayer Finally Exists With Mod Launching This Week

As a die-hard Call of Duty fan who has been playing this series since its early days, I can’t help but feel a rush of nostalgia when hearing about the upcoming H2M mod for Modern Warfare Remastered. The thought of stepping back into the boots of Soap or Roach on classic MW2 maps like Rust and Favela is almost too good to be true.

A highly anticipated custom Call of Duty modification is set to release this week, promising a reimagined version of the original Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer action, complete with fresh surprises. However, some enthusiasts are wary that Activision might intervene and halt the project, as they did with the unofficial CoD SM2 mod in 2023.

As a dedicated fan of Call of Duty games and someone who spent countless hours playing Modern Warfare 2 during my college years, I am thrilled about this mod for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. With over 50 maps included, an updated progression system that feels more streamlined than before, a plethora of new camos and custom attachments to personalize my weapons, and the iconic killstreaks from MW2 making a comeback, this mod promises an immersive and nostalgic gaming experience for me. I can’t wait to jump back into the world of Modern Warfare once again, armed with my favorite weapons and strategies!

There’s a great deal of anticipation and buzz surrounding this mod due in part to the fact that last year’s Modern Warfare II Remastered was campaign-focused only and lacked multiplayer functionality. Back then, Activision’s rationale for not providing a multiplayer experience left many scratching their heads and pondering the reasons behind it. Now, fans of Call of Duty are stepping up to fill the void by creating their own solutions.

To use the H2M mod, you’ll need a version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which came out in 2017. The launcher for this mod is scheduled to be released on August 16th.

To play H2M-Mod, you should first own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. Given the excitement around the mod’s launch, sales for Modern Warfare Remastered have significantly increased and it now ranks third on Steam’s top-selling games list. For reference, Black Ops 6, the upcoming game in the series scheduled for release this October, is at number 15 on the same chart.

In this modified version (H2M), you’ll find all the remastered Modern Warfare maps plus fan-created adaptations of original MW2 levels. Furthermore, certain areas from the MW2 Campaign Remastered’s gameplay spaces are available within the mod as user-made custom maps.

Regarding advancement, the modders mentioned that there are a total of 70 levels to conquer, along with 10 prestige stages. Once you’ve achieved prestige 10, you can continue climbing all the way up to level 1000.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited about the upcoming news for Black Ops 6! Activision is set to unveil what’s next in the series during the Call of Duty Next event on August 28. Following that reveal, the Black Ops 6 beta will kick off on August 30, giving us a sneak peek at the action-packed gameplay!
