Veteran cartographer FMPONE unveils the complete edition of his Cache replica for Counter-Strike 2 on Steam, enabling gamers to dive right in and explore the map immediately.
Ever since Counter-Strike 2 dropped in 2023, there’s been a long list of maps that gamers like me have been dreaming about. But if I had to pick one, it would be none other than Cache. It’s the map we can’t stop talking about!
Initially a go-to competitive map for professional play in CS:GO, it was removed from the active duty map rotation in 2019, giving way to Vertigo.
Cache back in CS2
It’s challenging to find many players who favored Vertigo over Cache, but the traditional, tightly structured three-lane design of the map could potentially make a successful return.
FMPONE, who is behind Thera (previously integrated into CS2 last year), has now finished, or rather brought it to a stage where he’s satisfied enough to let it be freely distributed.
On March 3, it was clearly declared that DE_CACHE is back in Counter Strike, as illustrated by the provided screenshot depicting the T spawn area.

As a dedicated gamer, I couldn’t help but share the latest sneak peek I came across – a captivating snapshot of the CT spawn in our upcoming game, which bears an uncanny resemblance to its CS:GO counterpart, yet offers a fresh, invigorating take on a classic layout that I can’t wait to explore!

There is also a short description, which reads:
“A bomb defusal map set around Chernobyl.
“Terrorists are bent on destroying the evidence of a massive weapons-cache in the shadows of Chernobyl.”

It’s uncertain if Cache will reappear as a game map, especially in a deathmatch format, but assuming it doesn’t significantly change from its original form, there’s a high probability that numerous players would be eager to compete on it.
The cache was initially developed in collaboration with Volcano, currently a Co-Lead Game Designer for Valorant at Riot Games. FMPONE acknowledged Volcano’s contribution to this latest version of the cache by giving him credit and mentioning him in the post.
