Busan-Bound Korean Thriller ‘A Girl With Closed Eyes’ Picked Up for World Sales

As a seasoned cinephile with a penchant for Korean cinema, I eagerly anticipate the upcoming releases represented by Finecut. Having followed the careers of directors like Hong Sangsoo and now Chun Sunyoung, I am intrigued by the promising lineup they have in store. The thriller “A Girl With Closed Eyes,” particularly catches my eye due to its compelling narrative and talented cast, including Kim Minha and Moon Choi.

The Korean thriller movie titled “A Girl With Closed Eyes” is set to debut on a global scale, first appearing at the Toronto International Film Festival and later at the October’s Busan festival. This film has appointed Finecut as its worldwide sales representative.

The company is showcasing “By the Stream,” the latest work by renowned Korean director Hong Sangsoo, which debuted in Locarno this month, winning the best acting award, and will be featured as the main event in Toronto next. Meanwhile, Finecut’s horror-thriller “Noise” had its premiere at the Sitges fantasy festival and is now scheduled for a market screening in Toronto Industry Select.

“Reunion Through Murder: A Detective’s Past Resurfaces”

The movie, now in the final stages of post-production, represents the first full-length directorial venture by Chun Sunyoung, whose short film “Good Night” was screened at Cannes Critics’ Week. Finecut plans to exhibit excerpts from it at Toronto. It has been confirmed that “Girl” has made it into Busan’s Korean Cinema Today section, which highlights critically acclaimed commercial films.

In the critically-acclaimed Apple TV+ series “Pachinko,” Kim Minha takes on the role of a character under suspicion. The part of the detective is played by Moon Choi, an actress recognized for her work in “Deliver Us From Evil,” “Okja,” and “Anarchist from Colony.”

The movie is brought to you by Solaire Partners, an investment company known for funding successful films such as “Parasite,” “Extreme Job,” “12.12: The Day” and the upcoming “Next Sohee.”

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share my insights on an upcoming animated masterpiece titled “Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning.” This film is an adaptation of a highly acclaimed Korean novel, and it tells the story of a doctor-turned priest who embarks on a harrowing journey to safeguard a child with immense powers from her corrupt master.
