Bucky Barnes in Thunderbolts*: New Suit, No Superhero Name Yet!

In the narrative, Bucky Barnes plays a crucial role and though he’s found a fresh sense of duty, he hasn’t been bestowed with a fitting superhero alias as of yet. After all, his current codename Winter Soldier is one that doesn’t belong to him personally in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”.

For years, I was manipulated and used by HYDRA, carrying out their deadly missions as the Winter Soldier – a past that I’m not proud of. Using the title ‘Winter Soldier’ merely brings back painful memories from my darker days. Now, equipped with a fresh suit and a new team at my side, I’m eager to find a superhero name that truly represents who I aspire to be.

Bucky Barnes Gets A New Suit In The Thunderbolts* Credits Scene

The New Avengers Come With A new Uniform

In the comic book titled “Thunderbolts,” Bucky and the rest of The New Avengers are seen taking a break at the Avengers Tower in New York City. The majority of the team is sporting fresh new outfits, with Bucky being no exception. His new suit stands out from his previous costumes and features the New Avengers emblem, as well as a red star shape. Moreover, it prominently displays his Vibranium arm.

This indicates that the team has fully adopted their identities as a team of superheroes, and among them, Bucky is conspicuous because he doesn’t have a fitting superhero name yet. In truth, the oversight of not giving him a suitable name for so long should be addressed promptly to acknowledge the character appropriately.

Bucky Barnes Still Doesn’t Have An Official Superhero Name After Thunderbolts*

The Winter Soldier Is A Moniker Bucky Could Stand To Leave Behind

Previously mentioned, the alias “Winter Soldier” was given to Bucky when he was under HYDRA’s control, a name that carries the weight of a dark past and numerous casualties. In “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, Bucky strives to set things right with survivors and bystanders who suffered during his brutal assaults. Moreover, the Wakandans, appreciative of his role in finding and capturing the murderer of their king, T’Chaka (father of T’Challa), bestowed a new name upon him.

Considering Bucky has been absent from Wakanda for quite some time now, and his actions during his alliance with Sam against Baron Zemo might have caused him to lose the title of White Wolf among them. Taking everything into account, it seems appropriate that Bucky should choose a suitable superhero alias that he can identify with and feel at ease using.

Luckily, there’s an ideal name that suits our hero perfectly, reminiscent of comic book lore, and seems to align with the new superhero suit he dons in the Thunderbolts post-credits scene. In the comics, Bucky uncovers a clandestine group responsible for many of his life’s darkest moments, including his father’s untimely death when he was young and his initial transformation into the Winter Soldier. This secretive organization is called the Outer Circle, and upon learning the truth, Bucky vows to track down the leader of this group.

As an accomplished assassin, Bucky successfully locates and eliminates the head of the Outer Circle, who was famously known as The Revolution. In assuming
