Brutal DCEU Villain Death in 2022 Flop: Sabbac’s Gory End

As a passionate movie-goer, I can’t help but express my feelings about the DCEU, a franchise that had immense potential in the superhero genre. Unfortunately, it was a rollercoaster ride with ups and downs, and finally came to an end with “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”. However, one of the most intriguing and intelligent villain deaths in the entire series was shown in a film that didn’t quite make it big at the box office.

Despite the initial promise demonstrated across several movies, the inconsistency in the tone and quality left fans questioning the future of the series. This uncertainty was evident in its later years when they released films that just didn’t resonate with audiences as much.

As a fan, I can’t help but reminisce about some standout DCEU movies from the latter part of the franchise. Movies like “Birds of Prey” and “The Flash” were truly impressive additions to the series that, unfortunately, didn’t get the attention they deserved. Even a 2022 film, which was expected to be a blockbuster for Warner Bros. Discovery, seemed to have flown under the radar for many moviegoers. Here’s hoping the upcoming “Superman” reboot will breathe new life into the DC brand and make it feel relevant once more in the near future.

Black Adam’s Sabbac Death Is One Of The Most Brutal In The DCEU

Sabbac Is Ripped In Half During The Film’s Climax

In the DCEU, Black Adam encountered the villainous figure known as Sabbac, an amalgamation of six demon names – Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crateis. This demonic adversary was ready to terrorize, and true to form, he clashed with the Justice Society of America, even leading to Doctor Fate’s demise. However, Black Adam was destined to initiate a fresh chapter in the DCEU, ultimately overpowering Sabbac in a particularly gruesome and intense battle sequence – one of the most brutal scenes ever depicted within the franchise.

In the aftermath of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where intense violence and a grim atmosphere were prevalent, it became apparent that the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) had no qualms about portraying graphic violence and gore. However, the act of killing in Black Adam elevated the violence to an unprecedented level. As Adam soared through the air with Sabbac, viewers were left witnessing the gruesome spectacle of him splitting the demon character in two. This was a disturbingly intense and gory scene, and I’m still amazed by how thrilling it was to experience such violence within a DCEU adventure tale.

Black Adam’s Critical & Box Office Results Mean Sabbac’s Death Is Generally Overlooked

The Film Hoped To Be A Home Run For DC, But Was Barely A Base Hit

I really enjoyed spending time with Black Adam, but it appears that the movie didn’t get the recognition it deserved by quite a few people. The Rotten Tomatoes score for the Dwayne Johnson film might have kept some viewers at bay, as it only received a 39% approval rating from critics. Consequently, the film made $393 million at the box office, which unfortunately seems to have made it an unprofitable venture. This is unfortunate because those who did see Black Adam seemed to enjoy it; on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an impressive 87% rating from audiences, and was generally well-received as a solid superhero blockbuster.

It’s unfortunate that a movie’s ability to resonate with viewers isn’t significant if it goes unseen. Despite Black Adam outperforming several DCEU flops, thanks to Dwayne Johnson’s star power, the box office earnings still fell short of the studio’s expectations. This underperformance essentially signaled the demise of the DCEU, with the anticipated showdown between Black Adam and Superman failing to materialize on the big screen. Given that it seems unlikely we’ll see Johnson reprise his role as Black Adam, revisiting this film doesn’t carry much significance.

*The character of Black Adam had one of the grisliest and uncomfortable deaths seen in the DC Extended Universe, which is unfortunate because not many people got to witness it.*

*Although Black Adam earned a box office revenue of $393 million, films like this, which are big superhero blockbusters, aim for much greater success. With their high production costs, they probably didn’t turn a profit.*

*However, Black Adam is worth watching again due to its portrayal of the Justice Society of America and the extremely violent demise that Sabbac suffered at the hands of Black Adam in the movie’s final scene.*
