As a horror enthusiast who’s traveled across continents to immerse myself in the darkest corners of film, I must say that this year’s Brooklyn Horror Fest lineup is a veritable cornucopia of chills, thrills, and laughter that would make even the most hardened horror hound squirm with delight.
For the 2024 event, the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival has revealed the schedule, taking place from October 17th to October 24th. The selected movies will be played at both Nitehawk Cinema’s Williamsburg and Prospect Park venues.
Kicking off with the crime thriller “Dead Mail” by Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy, BHFF is excited to present the first North American screenings of several intriguing titles. These include Tiago Texieria’s unsettling erotic body horror film “Custom”, Philip Escott and Sarah Appleton’s chilling late-90s horror documentary “Generation Terror”, and Sasha Rainbow’s production “Grafted” featuring the talented Jess Hong.
Movies making their global debuts at the BHFF feature the directorial first attempt of Izzy Lee titled “House of Ashes,” the queer sci-fi adventure “Psychonaut,” and the film “Lilly Lives Alone” starring Jeffery Combs.
2024’s edition of “Fear in Focus” is coming back for the BHFF, focusing on horror films originating from Spain this time. The parallel program will showcase classic 35mm screenings of movies like “Vampyres,” “The Blood Spattered Bride,” and a Spanish adaptation of “Dracula,” complete with a live performance by The Flushing Remonstrance for the soundtrack.
