In Rio de Janeiro, LC Barreto has revealed three fresh productions. Two of these are animated projects in collaboration with CCTV Animation, a branch of China Media Group, and another is an upcoming live-action movie from the Oscar-nominated director Bruno Barreto (“Four Days in September”).
The famous Panda HoHo, who has appeared in various productions by China Media Group, will be the main character in two upcoming projects: a television show and a movie. These projects are intended for worldwide distribution.
Brazilian film director João Amorim, pictured above, is set to oversee two upcoming projects. Furthermore, Amorim will deliver a talk titled “Creative Orient: Unveiling the Potential of Asian Audiovisual” at Rio2C on May 29th.

João Amorim, the Brazilian film director depicted above, is taking charge of two upcoming projects. He will also share insights in a lecture entitled “Creative Orient: Exploring the Potential of Asian Audiovisual” at Rio2C on May 29th.
Both projects are being actively worked on and developed right now, with LC Barreto focusing on securing the necessary funds for their respective productions, as stated by Barreto himself.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that “Hoho & The Tropical Sound Clash” is an upcoming 3D animated series designed specifically for preschoolers like me. This vibrant production spans across four seasons, with each season boasting 13 episodes, each lasting a captivating 12 minutes. The total budget for this amazing project amounts to a substantial $8.1 million.
Panda HoHo teams up with two distinctive Brazilian creatures – a golden lion tamarin, representing Brazil’s rich biodiversity, and an exploratory capybara. In each episode, this trio ventures into different parts of Brazil, uncovering unique ecosystems, cultural customs, and valuable insights about environmental conservation and teamwork.
Amazonika: The Beginning” is a computer-generated animated movie with a production budget of 30 million reais ($5.2 million). This film will showcase the reimagining of the Amazon Rainforest as an age-old connection between Asian and Brazilian indigenous cultures. The character Panda HoHo will join forces with Zo, a young man who speaks to nature, and Nika, a fearless princess warrior, to restore balance in a world teetering on the edge of destruction.
In addition to this, LC Barreto is set to create “In the Name of My Parents,” a fresh feature film directed by the esteemed Bruno Barreto, who is known for his timeless works such as “Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands” and the Oscar-nominated “Four Days in September.
Paula Barreto mentioned that it was her father, Luiz Carlos Barreto – the well-known producer and founder of LC Barreto 60 years back – who originally conceived this project.
She shared with EbMaster that she had read Matheus Leitão’s book titled ‘In the Name of My Parents’. She found it incredibly impactful and decided on the spot to acquire its publishing rights. Additionally, she mentioned that Maria Adelaide Amaral is working on the screenplay adaptation at present.
In his book, Leitão narrates his quest to identify the individuals who imprisoned and tormented his parents in the early 1970s, during Brazil’s military regime. His parents, Marcelo Netto and Miriam Leitão, were journalists who stood up against the dictatorship and faced persecution as a result.
