One of the few games for Nintendo Switch 2 that wasn’t available for pre-purchase when console preorders opened in April was Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster. While listings for this upcoming turn-based RPG from Square Enix have been on retailer websites for roughly a month, it wasn’t until May 6 that preorders began to appear. If you’re considering purchasing the most budget-friendly launch game with a physical copy – priced at just $40 – you can now preorder Bravely Default HD Remaster before its June 5 release date.
Initially, Bravely Default was exclusively launched for Nintendo 3DS in Japan back in 2012. The enhanced edition of this game came out the next year, and it was this version that got an English translation in 2014.
Alongside an upgraded high-definition visual style, this remake introduces a speedy skip feature for events, includes two fresh minigames, and offers more content. Since the initial 3DS release featured a dual-screen layout, the game’s display and menu systems have been redesigned to accommodate the single screen of the Switch 2. The HD remaster preserves fan-favorite aspects such as customizable battle speeds and enemy encounter rates.
Ever since its debut on Nintendo 3DS, the popular game Bravely Default has been followed by two sequels: Bravely Second: End Layer for the same system and Bravely Default II for the Nintendo Switch. Fans of this series can also adorn their bookshelves with official art books for all three games. The Art of Bravely Default II, published by Dark Horse Books in April, is now available, but you can enjoy a 20% discount on its hardcover, 300-page edition.
