On launch day, the enhanced version of the classic game “Bravely Default” is set to arrive for Nintendo Switch 2. This updated edition was unveiled during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and goes by the name “Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster.”
Originally launched on the 3DS system in Japan back in 2012, with an improved version following suit for the western markets and Japan a year later under the title “Bravely Default: For the Sequel”. The HD Remastered version of Bravely Default Flying Fairy, titled “Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD”, offers updated features and brand new mini-games.
As a gamer, I jumped into Bravely Default, immersed in its unique turn-based gameplay that revolves around the intriguing Brave and Default mechanics. When I Default, I can safeguard my actions for later use, while Braving lets me unleash those saved moves all at once, creating an exhilarating and speedy battle system. What’s more, it offered an innovative feature where I could automate the fights by repeating my last actions – a refreshing addition to games in 2013.
On June 5, 2025, the high-definition remastered version of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy will be available for play on the Nintendo Switch from its release date.
You can find the trailer and more details from Square Enix below:
In the world of Luxendarc, where four elemental crystals preserve harmony and tranquility, an ominous shadow rises from the Great Chasm, disrupting the balance. The champions of light embark on a quest to rescue this world from impending doom. Players will team up with Agnès Oblige, the Wind Crystal’s vestal, Tiz Arrior, a compassionate shepherd surviving after his town was swallowed by the Great Chasm, Edea Lee, the grand marshal’s daughter of Eternia, Ringabel, a young man with amnesia and a peculiar journal predicting future events, and Airy, a cryst-fairy. Together, they embark on an epic voyage to restore light to the crystals and bring peace back to Luxendarc.
Strategic gameplay is at the heart of this adventure, as players manipulate the battle flow using the innovative “Brave & Default” system: Brave allows you to spend points to take extra turns, while Default lets you save a turn and reinforce your defenses. The game offers over 20 distinct jobs in its job system, allowing players to combine abilities and roles for an extensive range of party compositions. Engaging turn-based battles can be adjusted in speed by the player, making them even more exhilarating. The larger-than-life soundtrack from Revo elevates the experience, making BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster a must-play for RPG aficionados.
