Brad Pitt’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Is Losing Its Streaming Home Next Month

Fans of the fantasy film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button have a limited time to stream it on Paramount+. The movie will be removed from the platform on April 1st.

Paramount+ is removing a certain film from its streaming service in April. Currently, it’s only available with a paid Paramount+ subscription and isn’t offered on other platforms like Hulu, Netflix, or HBO Max. It’s unclear whether the film will eventually be available on another streaming service, or if it will only be accessible through purchase or rental.

Benjamin Button Remains One of Brad Pitt’s Most Iconic Roles

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a fascinating story about a man named Benjamin who is born looking old. Set in New Orleans, the film follows Benjamin as he ages backward, growing younger with time. He develops a touching connection with a young girl named Daisy (played by Cate Blanchett) who becomes a dancer, and they both long for a moment when their lives can align.

As a film buff, I remember when this movie first came out and it instantly became a huge part of the cultural conversation. What really grabbed everyone was its mind-bending, non-linear story, and the beautiful romance felt like a really poignant way of showing how quickly life passes. Plus, the special effects were seriously innovative for their time, and critics loved it! Even now, decades later, it still holds up – it’s ‘Certified Fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes with a 72% approval rating, which just proves what a lasting impact it’s had.

Alongside Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, who played the older Benjamin Button and Daisy Fuller, the film featured a large cast to portray the characters throughout their lives. Robert Towers, Peter Badalamenti II, and Tom Everett each played Benjamin as an adult, while Spencer Daniels, Chandler Canterbury, and Charles Henry Wyson portrayed him at younger ages.

Cate Blanchett wasn’t the only actress to play Daisy. Madisen Beaty portrayed her as a 10-year-old, and Elle Fanning played the 7-year-old version. The film also stars Julia Ormond, Tilda Swinton, and Mahershala Ali, among others.

Pitt’s Performance as Benjamin Button Earned Worldwide Critical Acclaim

Even years after it came out in theaters, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is still one of Brad Pitt’s most famous roles. When the movie was released in 2008, it was a huge commercial success, earning $336 million on a $150 million budget. It quickly became a Hollywood favorite, winning an Academy Award, among many other honors.

The film was a success at the Oscars, winning awards for Art Direction, Makeup, and Visual Effects. Although it didn’t win the biggest prizes of the night, the competition was very strong. Benjamin Button ultimately didn’t win, and Brad Pitt lost the Best Actor award to Sean Penn, who won for his role in Milk.

You can watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Paramount+ until April 1st. It’s currently unknown where the movie will be available for streaming after that date.
