Brad Pitt to Star in A24’s ‘The Riders’ Adaptation From ‘Conclave’ Director Edward Berger

In the forthcoming movie version of “The Riders,” Brad Pitt will take the lead role, with director Edward Berger, known for “Conclave,” at the helm.

A24 is set to both fund and release the movie. The production is slated to start in early 2026, with filming taking place at various European locations. This storyline mirrors Tim Winton’s novel “The Riders,” where a man, who relocates to Ireland with his family, embarks on a vast journey after his wife mysteriously disappears.

David Kajganich is working on the script adaptation. The production companies involved are Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, Berger’s Nine Hours, Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, and Kajganich himself, as reported by Deadline, who initially broke the news about this project.

Brad Pitt will soon be seen in the racing drama “F1,” which is directed by Joseph Kosinski, the man behind “Top Gun: Maverick.” Additionally, he’s involved in “The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth,” a spin-off of Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” David Fincher is taking charge as director for Netflix, with Tarantino contributing to the script.

Berger, renowned for his Oscar-nominated direction, is behind the Vatican drama “Conclave” and “All Quiet on the Western Front.” Meanwhile, Kajganich has teamed up with Luca Guadagnino on numerous scripts including “A Bigger Splash,” “The Terror,” and “Bones and All.

A24 has some exciting movies coming up, such as the romantic comedy “Materialists” by Celine Song, starring Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal; Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s sports drama titled “Smashing Machine”; and the ping pong adventure “Marty Supreme,” directed by Josh Safdie and featuring Timothee Chalamet. Earlier releases from this independent studio include “Opus,” led by Ayo Edebiri, Paul Rudd’s “Death of a Unicorn,” Alex Garland’s “Warfare,” and the fantastical film “The Legend of Ochi.” However, not all these films resonated with audiences at the box office.
